I think the weirdest thing about being girly for a year or two was how I was treated so differently. I was the same person all along but my life with others was SO different. I have the same experience, despite my much less tumultuous gender issues. I've got high testosterone and I'm definitely less girly than a lot of people and generally don't tend to like to think of myself as a women or think of things in terms of femalehood. Not wanting kids doesn't help either. Anyway, I do think it's interesting how I get treated based on what I decide to wear to a bar or how I present myself.
When I went to Colorado, I went to the bar and flirted with some guys while wearing a rainbow hat. They point blank said "We don't know whether to buy you shots what with that hat." I had to laugh.
