judecorp: (probst loves me!)

Okay so, the whole Survivor cliffhanger thing? K-Lame.

1. It looks like we're gearing up for another rainy weekend. Is this going to be like last spring, where is rains and is cold for weeks and then all of a sudden is over 80°? Because that was kind of annoying. I love the hot weather, but I don't really like going from 40° to 80° in a matter of minutes.

2. My mother sent us an anniversary card, which was really awesome. Tonight on the phone (it's her birthday, I called), she finally acknowledged that my 40-year-old cousin is gay. And even then, I had to sneak it out of her. She said Ken was coming to SC to visit his mom. I asked, "Alone?" and she said, "No, with Ed." As if I have always known about an Ed. Which I didn't - I always suspected an Ed.

3. Ken lives in Columbus and yet I /never/ saw him when I lived there. For four years. And I wrote to him like 4 times. But I'm not really close with my mom's family at all, which is a shame.

4. My supervisor came to me this evening to talk about some concerns she has, which led into a huge discussion about what I think is wrong with the organizational culture in my office. Not that I think it will go anywhere, but it's nice when people ask my opinion. I like.

5. Now I just wish I could score a bigger paycheck there. Life would be groovy.

6. Hey local peeps - Jen and I are looking to move to a cheaper place here because this place is making us broke. Any suggestions? We'd love to live in Central or Inman Squares. Any leads? Thanks.

ER just made me sad.

It's quite sad. I'm not really watching it (don't have my glasses on) but I can hear it.

oooh, no leads, but move to Inman!!

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2006-05-12 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
I would like to, as long as it's cheaper than what we've got going on right now and isn't a TOTAL dump.

I don't feel like Central or Inman are cheaper than where you are, but Craigslist is good for shopping around.

Consider Jamaica Plain! (tm) We are to lesbians what the South End is to gay men! Also, we have JP Licks.

ALSO! An affordable hair salon that runs on SOLAR POWER. Also, a CO-OP. Independently owned businesses! Parks! Ponds! My rockstar fiance! Ugh, I love JP. <3

I was going to go into a big rants about how unaffordabe everything in Cambridge is, but looking at craigslist, there are quite a few listings for places in Central and Inman in the 1100-1200 range. I'll keep my ears open.

the apartment across the hall from us is open. 1200-1250/month. not as nice as yours, and not in inman or central...but available cheaper & with awesome neighbors.

I think Central and Inman are too expensive and you should live on this end of the red line :) There's more room to breathe and still plenty of queers and cooll stuff!

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, we've been doing a lot of craigslist.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I do enjoy a little JP, and of course we all know what I think of your rockstar fiance, who, sadly, has been quite absent from my life of late.

I don't really see a lot of cheap JP rents, though, especially now that someone (probably because YOU are now there) decided it's the coolest place in town. But I will of course keep looking.

The one thing that sucks about JP is the transportation for Jen. But other than that, score.

Thanks! [livejournal.com profile] slytherindyke made it for me way back when I was doing that nerdy online survivor contest thing. :)

The neighbors are a HUGE plus. Are utilities included with that? It would be cool for me but I know that Jen's not terribly jazzed about doing the whole bus-to-train deal, especially for a job she doesn't like. KWIM?

But I sure do like the neighbors!

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
It's definitely a serious possibility, especially if a certain Fanilow convinces a certain landlord.

[identity profile] bellabooks.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
no utilities. and I definitely know what you mean by the bus to train. convenience-wise it's not a huge issue for me, but I know that the extra $ per month is a pain. but you would have a built-in cat-sitter.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Cat-STEALER, you mean. If you're talking about Olex. :)

p.s. We are far too overdue in our making plans.

Whatchoo talkin bout, Willis? The Back Bay stop would drop her off right in front of her work. It takes me 30 minutes to get to Back Bay, including the 15 minute walk to Green St. Damn girl, that's got to be a lot shorter than she deals with now!

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the actual Orange Line ness would be awesome... as long as we found a place that was decently walkable to a T stop. (She already goes to Back Bay for work, it's faster than the Green Line from here.) Hence, more $$$$$. I dunno, I'll keep looking, but I haven't really seen much on CL in JP except for people who are looking for roommates.

If you see any "For Rent" signs on your walk to the T, lemme know!
