But it's not all bad.

Just in case there was some sort of concern that everything in my life is bad:

1. This weekend, a bunch of people who have all known each other for a million years all banded together to help out another friend. [livejournal.com profile] lorac and William just bought a house and are expecting their first baby at any minute, and the house needs some work before they can really get settled. So a whole gaggle of people ascended on their house to scrape wallpaper, rip up carpet, tear up linoleum, remove radiators, etc. in preparation for painters and sanders to come make their house beautiful. And while we were not able to help as much as a lot of the other people (and I do feel bad about that), it was nice to be a part of that and get sweaty. I may have lost touch or have gone astray from a lot of these folks over the years, but that doesn't change the fact that they are Good People.

2. Also in the Good People department, a friend of mine who recently had a baby (well, his wife did, but you know) very sweetly chatted with me about how he hasn't really wanted to "throw the baby in our faces" since we're doing all of this TTC business, but wanted me to know that he's not keeping the baby from us, either. It was nice to just kind of have that out there, but also to just have a nice, solid connection for a moment about something that is not from when we all met each other 13 years ago. We've been here for 2 years and I finally feel, at least a little bit, like our lives are developing and changing together again and not like I'm a returning outsider spying on their good friendships.

3. While walking with Marti Maraschino the other day along the bike path that goes past a bunch of the Mattapan extension to the Red Line, I came across two people who were walking in the opposite direction. They asked me for some sort of directions and I didn't really know where they were headed (it's not a place I usually walk), but I knew that we hadn't passed it on our way. I encouraged them to turn around and they didn't. But when we turned around a few minutes later to head back, we saw them coming again and they had, in fact, turned around. They thanked me heartily and said that they realized I was right and I saved them a walk. That was nice.

4. I used one of those Mr. Clean Magic Erasers for the first time ever, and holy crap, they don't call them "magic" for nothing. It easily wiped away stuff I had been trying to scrub off for a long time. I don't know what's in that thing, and it will probably kill me dead, but damn, it works.

5. We finally got around to getting the curtains that match all of the new bedding I bought when I was bummed about the HSG. And they look so nice!

6. Insurance letter says that they will pay for three more cycles of IUIs, this time with Follistim. That means August, September, and October. Which means that even if these tries don't work, we can probably blow this pop stand before Christmas provided we can get all of our ducks in a row.

7. We were invited to a dim sum get together by a guy that we met at a 4th of July barbecue at Liz and Matt's house. And he is a totally awesome guy, I really dig him. It's weird that we just met a couple of weeks ago because it just feels like we hung out in college or something, just really comfortable. And Liz's sister, Jill, was there and I really like her, too. (It was sad that Liz wasn't able to come, but as this is a Good Things post, I'll zip my lips.)

8. We have a pretty clean house right now. Jen was awesome and did all of the vacuuming and dusting in the living room, and I tackled the kitchen and did some general stuff with the aforementioned Magic Eraser. Clean houses make everything better. Especially with cool cats!

9. I secured a hotel room for us for our overnight in NYC to catch a Yankee game. Two good friends are going to go down with us and catch the game. They can't stay overnight, and we will miss them, but it will be fun to see them. And we are also going to get to see Emily, which is Teh Awesome.

10. I recently had my annual review at work and it was seriously the most flattering thing that has ever been handed to me. I don't usually get four pages of sunshine being blown up my butt, but I'm not complaining! (I wish it had come with some sort of raise, though. Poo.) It's nice to be liked.
