In one of the towns we're looking at, there do seem to be a LOT of private septic systems. The other town is all public sewer. Here in Massachusetts, houses up for sale with private septic systems have to pass state inspection - the one house we're considering had its leachfield replaced a few years ago and is getting a new distributer box as part of the Title V requirements... so aside from the pumping every other year or so, it should be okay for a while.

I worry about the resale, though.
