Waking the Baby

We have a pedi appointment at 10:30. It takes about 15 minutes to get there, which means we should be out the door at 10:15.

It is 10:09 and she is still sleeping from her nap. She went down late and had a tough time settling, so she only fell asleep around 9:35. I /have/ to wake her up in a minute so I can get her dressed and diapered and stuffed into her car seat.

I have never woken her up. Well, not since we had to wake her every two hours to force-feed her, which was Teh Suck. I really go out of my way to not wake a sleeping baby. And now I have to. And it SUCKS.

It's 10:10. I guess I really need to go in there. Suck.

the same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. i seriously considered cancelling the appt. will she maybe fall back to sleep in the car seat?

I hate waking Emma. She always has funky nap days when we have to go somewhere.

It sucks to have to wake 'em up. Especially when they took forever to get to sleep, or tend to be crappy sleepers to begin with.
We had a good sleeper once...and for a week we had to drive her to friends' house for babysitting in the morning. At her 5am-ish bottle, I'd just feed her, shove her in the car seat still in her jammies, and she'd go back to sleep. She'd stay asleep through us getting ready at 7ish, and often would stay asleep through getting into the car and driving to our friends' house. Granted, she was ~5 months old, but still...I can't imagine EVER doing that with Shaya or Zach. But it just came naturally to this little chiquita.

Makes me realize just how impossible it is to fathom what it's like to have a high-needs (or just pain in the ass!) baby, if you have a regular or "easy" baby.

What is it about doctor's appointments and babies that, no matter how carefully you try to arrange it, a nap must always be missed or ruined? Happens to us almost every time.

When we got the okay from our ped. to do demand feeding, and no longer had to wake him up, I did a little jig of joy. Hope it went okay. :-P

I'm with you. I hate waking Ava when she's sleeping! It makes me feel horrible.
