Riddle me this:

Why must she poop within MINUTES of my changing her diaper?

WHY???!?!

Haha. Ryan did this every.single.time. we changed him. So, it was always a two-fer.
I'm sure in the great scheme of things, babies do it on purpose just to drive us nuts. :) Gotta love their timing!

she wants to poop on FRESH diapers! duh!

[identity profile] violane.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I've asked Ben the same thing but he won't tell me. I think it's because it's so easy to relax into the fresh, clean diaper. :)

I guess the same reason why all the cats in the house must use the litter box the moment I finishing cleaning it.

EXACTLY what i was gonna say! cats, man. i tell ya!

That's true. It's a freaking conspiracy!

I bet the cats taught her.

I was gonna say the exact same thing. Is there a feline somewhere in the family tree?

Laurel learned it with no pets in the house when she was a little burrito. Maybe it's hardwired. (:

Bubby-cat likes to come in and use the litterbox when there's someone in the bathroom to keep him company. We don't have the just-cleaned litterbox phenomenon since we bought a Littermaid, but it's annoying in the morning after coming off the sleep function because it usually takes two passes to clear.

Probably for the same reason that Duncan must poo just when I've finished wrangling him into a snowsuit and am trying to get out the door.

I would also like to know the answer to that.

Haha, Colette always complains about that with Luc. It's like they have to make it their own immediately. :)

[identity profile] jeney.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they do it just to mess with us.

They feel especially proud when you change them right before you walk out the door. If they can make you change them twice AND make you late? AWESOME.

You know, this is the best possible thing actually. I can't remember if you guys do cloth diapers, but we do, and the same thing was happening to us (plus it was always RIGHT after I had thrown the diapers in the laundry!) and Edie is a pretty predictable pooper. So one time out of laziness I held her in the EC "potty" position over the toilet with me sitting backwards on the toilet and her in front of me. She pooped! So we got her the baby bjorn little potty and she pooped and peed on that! We still do diapers, but just sit her on it first thing in the morning and after naps, and sometimes when we go to change her. The result is we've had about 3 poopy diapers in the past 2 months - all the rest in the toilet. It's great, and you should just try it! So much better than wiping poop off their butts.

Two things that always happen in our house - 1) Saff always poops right after I put a clean diaper on her and 2) The cats always poop right after they get a fresh litter box.

I have the same problem with the cats.

As for me. I always try to poo before I shower ;-)

[identity profile] somerandomchic.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I will echo everyone else - cats, kids, they all like a clean surface. Elsie likes to do it the SECOND there is a new diaper, like, while she is still on the changing table. The problem here is that she often ends up soiling not only a nice clean dipe, but the changing table and usually her clothes as well.

And, our cats? They sit in the hall and watch you clean the litter box then fight for first pooping rights.

So, I can just commiserate with you.

Hahahaha - I wonder this too sometimes!

[identity profile] photodork.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
sometimes after i poop and leave the bathroom, i have to go again.
my cat jumps in her litterbox the second its filled with fresh litter....
peas in a pod.

I SWEAR I left this comment before, but: as Jenny says, our boy likes to discharge WHILE I am changing the diaper. Sometimes he pees, too (which is special fun, since he's a boy). and spits up. all. at. the. same. time.

jaxen loves to do the same thing and then laugh at me
