Straw

My kid knows how to use a straw now. I have been trying this for a couple of months and had given up. I mean, if she can't use a straw, no big, you know?

She decided to show me using my iced coffee at lunch. Whoops. She didn't like it, though, so she spit it out. Which is what she does to any beverage that isn't water. Heh.

wheeeeeeeee caffeinated baby!

[identity profile] halleyscomet.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I did that to one of my sisters when I was younger. She was ultra hyper, bubbling and yammering like mad for about an hour.

Then she crashed and slept for ages.

You were such a little troublemaker!!

I need to meet this baby of yours soon.

When will you be in Boston next?

Alternately we could try see you either going to or returning from Baitcon.

I have no idea re: Boston. We should make a trip out of it!

Too funny. Kendra actually seemed to LIKE the mouthful of Coke she got the other day.

So far I can't get Punk to drink anything that isn't water (in the sippy) or formula (in the bottle). I have tried apple juice (straight up and diluted), and at a party that guy gave her "juice" and that wasn't a hit either.

First kid, first straw was a huge moment for me! I remember the time, the place...everything!

So spill - where and when? :)

My brother in law taught my nephew how to use a straw with a milkshake.

Indeed!

Cool on the straw business! I admit I have offered her a cup with a straw a few times and nothing...she just chews on it. Maybe I need to have more iced coffee.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2008-06-17 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
It was weird... forever she would just pull the straws out of the cups and want to play with them, so I figured it was no biggie to offer her the coffee... and that was when she decided to suck on the straw like she'd done it for a million years. SO WEIRD!!

Yay! Thanks for coming to play!!

ok....so the Munchkin brand sippes with a straw are the best ones, you can get they at Target. The straws are bendy and are attached to the lids, so there is no removing of the straw and no dumping. they are jackson's favorite! he really likes diet coke, too. ugh. i am a bad mom.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2008-06-17 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
I like Diet Coke, too. Maybe I should get a sippy. :)

We have some Take-n-Toss cups with the spout and we like them, so maybe I will have to invest in the straw cups. But she has a different straw sippy that she seems to like, too.

Sure, I'll take 'em. Punk likes to chew them up so we go through them pretty quickly.

Where do you get just the lids?

We don't do branded stuff, either.

Good to know, thanks for the tip.

(and the parent company is "Learning Curve")

[identity profile] sarahaubry.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
oh yeah those take-n-toss are great, but they can get the straws out, flick said dstraw around, and then proceed to pur out the liquid :) if you can be -right there- they are great. in the car....not so much.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2008-06-17 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
We got her a straw sippy and you can't get the straw out. Whee!

But we don't give her sippies or snacks in the car so right now that's a non-issue.

She hasn't had cow's milk yet because she had a lot of dairy issues (formula) when she was tiny. We are thinking of trying goat's milk soon. Right now she drinks soy formula and she does like it.

But she hasn't liked any kind of juice (diluted or non-diluted) that she's tried. She likes water. :)
