Little Tidbits

1. I turned my kid forward-facing in the car today. It's... weird. But she outgrew the RF limits of the seat, and I don't have an extra $250 floating around right now. So, it is what it is. She says it's "tall."

2. I realized today that I have been giving my kid vitamins for 4 year olds and up, and that I was supposed to give her half a vitamin. Dang. Whoops. I over-vitamined her. And she LOVES them and is going to get pissed if I give her half a vitamin, so I guess I will go out and buy her new vitamins. Boo.

3. Our church puts out this advent devotional that has daily scriptures and reflections for all the days of advent, contributed by church members. I wrote one this year. I think my day was this past Friday or Thursday. Apparently it was very popular! I think 5 different people stopped me in church today to tell me they loved mine. It was kind of neat to be "church popular."

4. I know kids don't need vitamins, and Punk is a good eater. But she LOVES medicine. She is kind of a medicine addict. Anyone have any vitamin recommendations for the 2-year-old set?

5. We got a tree today and now the house smells delicious. And now I have boxes of holiday stuff everywhere. I hate clutter. Argh!

6. I am running out of places in the living room to put the Elf on a Shelf.

L'il Critters Gummy Vites

Kendra loves them, she walks over to the gate at the kitchen and asks for her "ninnamins".

I have heard that L'il Critters Gummies have more than the recommended amounts of vitamin a/retinol. Do you know anything about that? Kids age 1-3 should have a max of 2000IU of vitamin a as retinol and some of these vites have 3000+.

This one has 2100IU Vit A...don't see Retinol on the bottle anywhere.

The elf on the shelf is watching you....watching you, watching you....
Betsy works at Barnes and Noble and they sent a promotional DVD about Elf on a Shelf before the holidays and the song, well it just is creepy, and mesmerizing at the same time.

Ha ha ha, I haven't heard the song! It sounds creepy!!!

The Elf was a give from my SIL and brother. Punk likes having an elf of her very own who "talks to Santa." We sort of talk down the "watching you" aspect although I'm not going to lie, it has worked for behavior management purposes at dinner time. :) (aka "Bubbles doesn't like yucky manners!")

vitamins: i forget if you have trader joe's??? that's what we get--and i just ran to check the vit a specifically--1250IU. gelatin free. if you don't have TJ, and are interested, i'd be happy to throw some in the mail.

Does the elf on the shelf have to be in the living room? What about the dining room? kitchen?

Flintstones makes a toddler vitamin that is meant for 2-3 year olds. It has a yellow label and spells out "toddler" in blocks under the name. It's basically a smaller version of the regular chewables and the ingredients are slightly different. They are more expensive than they probably should be relative to the regulars, but I was happy to stop biting the big ones in half.

I give Jeb Gummy Vites, and he's mental for them.

My favorite thing about today:

The fact that I haven't check my LJ in over three years just to find out you have a kid.

A bit late, but... CONGRATS!

Then it seems you're doing very well! As you can tell, I barely use LJ anymore. If you're on Facebook, look me up - Abigail Koehler. And then you can even see pictures of me! LJ seems so archaic to me now! :)

i've seen your comments a couple times as we have some friends in common. i also just saw your comment in p101. i'd like to add you if that's ok.

my son won't understand the elf on a shelf this year, but i definitely want to get one next year. right now he's 16 months old and he thinks the christmas tree is the best thing he's ever seen, but i can't WAIT until next year. that will be fun.

nope, it wasn't p101, it was booj.

Yeah sure, add away! My journal sucks these days - I work too much and try to mama in the rest of my time... so if you don't mind a post every two weeks, BRING IT ON. :)

My kid was just about to turn 18 months last Christmas and I thought that was awesome, but here she is on the cusp of 30 months and it is WAY awesomer. :)
