Wednesday morning
I opted not to go into the office before my 9:30 this morning and I'm so hoping it doesn't turn me into a stressball. Must remember to check messages before I leave so I don't unwittingly show up at a house that called to cancel. This has been a big week for cancellations all around my office, probably because of the increased daylight and the beautiful weather. You get a little sun in the city and people just disappear for the netherworlds.
When the weather is nice I miss those child welfare days when I would just drive around, sit with families on stoops, and gossip about who was doing what with whom. There aren't too many /good/ child welfare job memories so I'll take 'em when they come. Last night Coworker Sarah called me to reminisce about V, this crazy dykey aunt of a delinquent teenage girl who had a total trash mouth and amused us to no end. I'll never forget the time Sarah and I did a home visit with her - I farted on Sarah on V's porch and we laughed so loudly that V answered the door saying, "What are you bitches cackling about? I could hear you all the way upstairs!" Or the time M (the teen), her friends, and I were relentlessly teasing V about dating her daughter's babydaddy's ugly mom. Good times.
At this point in the morning I should totally be brushing my teeth and making my "lunch." I use quotes because on Wednesdays I go from visit to visit straight from 9:30 to 2:15 and try to shove food in my mouth en route from Mission Hill to Southie. Aah well.
I hope your days are sunny and full of spring flowers. We have crocuses (crocii?) aplenty here in the D-O-T, as well as some unidentified shoots and sprouts. I am loving it.
