I hanker fer a hunk-a cheese!

In honor of [livejournal.com profile] mermil:

You are what you eat, from your head down to your feet - things like meat and eggs and fish, you know they build up muscle tissue. Uh oh! Appetite Control, more protein! Playing tennis today, you know... whoops!

All these motors in your body need a lot of fuel to go on! Like carbohydrates, fats and proteins, vitamins and so on! What's left over form the building blocks you need, indeed, to grow on.

Yes you are what you swallow, so the next time you feel hollow, don't just fill your face with any old kind of treat! This goes for every kid, or six foot ath-a-lete, all you really are is what you eat. Yahoo!

(I hanker fer a hunk-a, a slab, a slice, a chunk-a, a snack that is a winner, and yet won't spoil mah dinner. I hanker fer a hunk-a cheese!)

Impressive. Now, do you remember the text of the spot where he showed how to make ice cube tray popsicles? Even if you don't, your recollection deserves a good cyb3r 4 j00!

SUNSHINE ON A STICK!

OMG, I remember that ad... there was a boy looking out a window... And they stuck toothpicks in saran-wrap-covered ice cube trays.

AND EVERY SINGLE PERSON TRIED IT. You know you did.

Check it, yo! http://www.yesterdayland.com/popopedia/shows/saturday/sa1725.php

I used to have popsicle makers made by Tupperware. I wish I still had them. Phooey!

I will be around for Valentine's Day weekend, but I'll be at the Big Gay Conference for most of it.

But I will find time to see j00!!

I have Klondike bars, though. A girl bought them for me.

I have some of those and if you're nice to me, I might give you a set. I have two.

Consider them yours. I bought two sets and I've never used either of them.

OMG, we had those, too. Mmmm... kool-aid popsicles. I was all over those.

BTW, I'm sorry I didn't call you back like I promised. With my fucked up sleep schedule I keep picking up the phone to call you at like 2am. Call me crazy, but that's prolly too late to call you. I love you, though! I promise!

Hey, that's no problem.

This weekend I was /really/ hoping for an esaver to NY. So of course it's the only weekend that there ISN'T one.

Grr grr grr.

Love you!

My get up and go has got up and went years ago but I don't recall where that verse goes.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2003-01-29 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
I don't remember all of that one, but there were lines like:

When you're dancin' a hoedown and your boots kinda slow down, or any time you're weak in the knees...

When your ten gallon hat's feeling five gallons flat...

When your get up and go has got up and went...

But yeah, I don't know that one for some reason.

Does anyone remember...

[identity profile] pantsie.livejournal.com 2003-01-29 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Come Back Here", the experiment that you create using a 5 lb. coffee can? I think it involved some McGuyver like combination of rubberbands, washers and weights. The idea was that the kid was supposed to build a can that rolled back to them everytime they rolled it away.

I never tried this experiment, but I always felt dubious about it.

Re: Does anyone remember...

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2003-01-29 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, the Come Back Can really WORKED.

As a child that was obsessed with MacGuyver and Mr. Wizard, I immediately tried to make the can.

You took a coffee can and then you took a couple of washers and strung them on a rubber band. Then you stretched the rubber band through holes in the top and bottom of the can, and secured the band with toothpicks. When you rolled the can, gravity pulling on the washers made the rubber band twist up... which would mean it would have to UNtwist, which would send the can back!

I was such a tard as a child.

Wow.

[identity profile] pantsie.livejournal.com 2003-01-29 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
I'm impressed.

I loved Mr. Wizard and MacGuyver as well, but I never felt driven enough to play with the experiments shown. Although, I think I performed the Mr. Wizard trick involving vinegar, baking soda, a bottle, and a balloon for an elementary school science fair project.

"Come Back Here" was a mystery to me.

Re: Wow.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2003-01-29 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
I was the nerdiest child ever.

My friend Scott and I made an entire series of experiments involving baking soda and vinegar, and combining them with other household substances (like mollasses, or soda water, etc.). I never tried to make a volcano but I always wanted to.

I am going to shut up now before you all realize that I was a l0ser.

The volcano!!!

[identity profile] pantsie.livejournal.com 2003-01-29 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
I TOTALLY wanted to make the volcano!!!

(See? You're not alone in this, Jude.)

Wait until I'm manic again and I'll sing them all for you.

Also, the Schoolhouse Rock! DVD rules. I just don't watch it as often as I'd like to because somebody is still stuck on Elmo.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2003-01-30 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
I have most of the Schoolhouse Rock videos. Someday I will just buy the DVD. :)
