Hu Ke Lau!

Yesterday was such a great day. For starters, Wiley (scirocco) was very very nice to us. He came out here from Boston to help Jen de-mouse the basement and fix all of the crappy windows. What a guy! They used insulating foam all over and also reframed the loose windows... and he also vacuumed up all of the mouse poop and the acorns and stuff they had stashed in our insulation for the winter. Gosh, what a HUGE help.

Then my smurfbrother and SIL came over for the weekend... and Rick suggested going to Hu Ke Lau for dinner. Oh my goodness, what a fantastic idea! We ate a little too much fried food for my liking (mega pu-pu platters) but we got to watch the "Polynesian" show and they all drank froo-froo drinks (I had a Shirley Temple with an umbrella in it). I screamed so much that I lost my voice. Oh how I love the cheesy tiki places!

This morning we are headed to brunch with jadefu and oxlahun and then we will do god-knows-what all day. We have reservations for fancy-pants NYE dinner at 9pm, so we have lots of time in between. Who knows? The sky's the limit!

oh how i miss western mass! we LOVED the hu ke lau when i was at smith! sounds like you guys had a super time. good for you!!! chris from FF

It was one of the biggest crimes when the Kahiki was closed so that they could build a Wal*Mart (or something equally craptastic) in its place. Hard to believe it's been gone as long as it has. :( At the time they closed they said they were possibly going to build in a new location, but it's never happened, and it probably won't at this point.
