Random hormonal moment of the day

On the drive home, I cried all the way through "I'll Follow You Into the Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie.

Oh my goodness, but I am so embarrassed.

I would make fun of you, but the very sound of Ben Gibbard's voice has send me into fits of blubbering before, even for songs as cheesy as that one. :)

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2007-06-07 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Would you believe I have never heard another Death Cab song? At least, I don't think I have. I have heard of them, but not heard them. This is the only one I know for sure. But yes, it is cheesy. Terribly cheesy.

I was fine until that ridiculous part about the nun telling him that "fear is the heart of love" or some crap like that. HA HA HA HA.

Oooh, that is a good line. "Marching Bands of Manhattan" makes me weep like a pregnant lady.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2007-06-12 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, I will let you know if I ever hear it.

Er, I posted one to my lj 3 weeks ago. Same album, even.

I never really wanted to board the "Death Cab" train. They seem too popular for me. I like being uncool and unhip and old.

[identity profile] lizardjee.livejournal.com 2007-06-07 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
have you sobbed your way through a not sad commercial yet? that is when i knew i hit bottom. lol

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2007-06-12 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Hrm. I don't think so. I mean, none of them are particularly "sad," but I guess they're at least sentimental.

I never get to actual tears, though... not with television. Music only.

[identity profile] cappucinogrrl.livejournal.com 2007-06-07 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh, a librarian just almost made me cry by literally ripping my jamba juice out of my hands and berating me. (But covered drinks are allowed!)

And I'm not even pregnant.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2007-06-12 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that sounds really MEAN! I don't blame you for crying!

[identity profile] cappucinogrrl.livejournal.com 2007-06-12 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Luckily I managed to fight back the tears. But yeah, she was a real bitch.

[identity profile] artjax.livejournal.com 2007-06-07 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's hormones. That song makes me cry EVERY time.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2007-06-12 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Baby.

[identity profile] indigokare.livejournal.com 2007-06-07 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
that song kind of makes me cry too.

not to sound like a bandwagon hopper, but i really like death cab for cutie. i'm not obsessed or anything like that, nor would i go out of my way to buy an album, go to a gig, etc, but i really like them.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2007-06-12 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know enough about them and in some ways I'm kind of glad. I don't need more music to buy, you know. I like to keep it simple. :)

I bet you're secretly a Death Cab stalker.

[identity profile] jeney.livejournal.com 2007-06-07 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
my sister had to pull over when she was driving on the highway because she couldn't stop sobbing while listening to Convoy.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2007-06-12 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that totally wins. I LOVE IT!

[identity profile] scirocco.livejournal.com 2007-06-07 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Group's good. Song's good. I totally understand.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2007-06-12 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad you have my back!

[identity profile] girlonthewire.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
something you probably don't know about me is that my husband almost died waiting for a liver transplant. he spent most of 2005 in the hospital with me at his side. i BAWL every time i hear that song. and the first time i heard it was at our first concert together after he got his transplant in Aug. 2005. I bawled right there at the concert.

[identity profile] etherial.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
You might not want to listen to "What Sarah Said". Or have you already?

[identity profile] girlonthewire.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, i bawl at that one too.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2007-06-12 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. I had no idea. That is a really amazing story. I'm glad he got his transplant and everything is moving along for you.

Can I be nosey and ask if that's why y'all did IVF?

I totally don't blame you for bawling. Did you know there were liver problems when you got together? Look at me being a total Nosey Parker. I'm sorry.

Yesterday I was chatting with my indirect supervisor about his ~6 months pregnant wife, asking how she was feeling. He said, "Well, we've now lived through the reason they say it's no use crying over spilled milk. Amy spilled a diet coke and said that in the five minutes afterward, she experienced every range of emotion known to man." Pregnancy can be funny like that sometimes.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2007-06-12 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a wild ride, that's for sure. Thankfully I avoid the Diet Coke. :)

[identity profile] vorpalbla.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
The album is good. There's at least one other tearjerker on there.

[identity profile] vorpalbla.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know what the song is called, you'll have to listen to the album.

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2007-06-13 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe someday.

[identity profile] artemis44.livejournal.com 2007-06-08 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh lord, I find myself bawling at all sorts of songs and commercials, even now, a full TWELVE months post-partum!!! Especially anything that talks about children in danger, of course, but even randomly poignant moments can catch me up in their emotional jetstreams...

Oh, and "Katie Lies", which is a country song... man, that song rips me apart - I have to skip it each time it comes on my Launchcast or else I'm sobbing at my desk...

[identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com 2007-06-12 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
There are a couple of Dar Williams songs that totally kick the crap out of me big time. I mean, they're emotional songs but it has definitely gotten worse.

The worst was when I was getting teary at some episode of "The Biggest Loser" last winter, when they were returning the "losers" to their families. Bawlfest.
