First foods!

Punk had her first taste of brown rice cereal yesterday! She is getting so big so fast, I can't even stand it. We just got back from South Carolina on Tuesday night into Wednesday, and already she has done new things! She had some solid food and also started saying, "da da da." Every time she does, I say, "No dada. Mama." Heh.

I think she liked it!

Somehow I knew that a first-time comment would contain something about cereal. Heh, call it my "internet instinct." :)

We are stocked up on veggies and fruits to start actually feeding Punk - by actually feeding, I mean when it's on a regular basis and an actual amount. This was sort of a lark, a little trial fun to let her have something new and exciting in her little life. She has been ridiculously into food for the last couple of weeks and we have been holding back, holding back, holding back... and a little rice cereal goes a loooooooooong way when you mix it really thin. We have a whole box of the stuff from when the pedi originally really pushed us to put cereal in the bottle because of severe reflux - we said no lots of times but when the reflux really reached epic proportions (like the day we ATTRACTED BEES at the park with the amount of her vomit, heh) I figured I would give it a shot if it helped. It didn't, I didn't like the idea, I gave her two bottles of it and stopped. So what to do with a near-full box of brown rice cereal flakes? Toss a tsp into a ramekin with a lot of milk and go nuts!

I knew she didn't have a problem with the rice because of the bottle experiment, and that's why I started there. I am super cautious about food allergies because of the whole anonymous donor factor, and while he didn't report any family food allergies, you just never know.

We don't plan to give cereal for actual food purposes (because it's pretty useless nutritionally, of course), and I am totally and 100% behind my decision to use it for play. Thanks for stopping by to comment on how cute my kid is, though - I eat that crap up with a baby spoon for real!

hee hee.

I've seen pics before (Karin sometimes leaves them up on the screen) but those two are to die for. She's just getting cuter!

Are you familiar with the Joneja scale? (http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/allergy.htm#Joneja) It supposedly can help identify less likely allergens. *shrug*

Interesting!
