Puke again

Punk had another gut-emptying puke tonight after being asleep for 45 minutes. She woke up coughing and then puked. And puked. And puked.

*sigh* I thought we were done with the puking. Now she is not going to day care tomorrow and I am going to take her to the pedi. Bleh. $50 down the drain for day care, $25 copay for the pedi. It never ever ends.

Jen wants me to ask the day care provider if I can bring Punk on Thursday instead, but that's not really the way it works and when I e-mailed M to cancel, she didn't suggest it, so I don't feel all that comfortable doing that.

I told a job I was available all day tomorrow for an interview. Now if they call to set it up, I can't go. Poop.

Any chance it's sinus drainage or something? Seems to be a hallmark amongst those of us of Jewish descent. ;)

I think it's certainly a possibility, especially since she is more prone to puking later in the day when she's had a lot of snot collection. Although her nose was much less runny today (I think I only wiped it twice and sucked it twice). But now some of that congestion has moved to her chest.

Sick babies are hard! :(

You have to pay for day care even if she doesn't go? That doesn't seem right. There are other kids there, right? It's not like she's staying home JUST to sit for Punk...

Oh I can't even imagine, I'm so not looking forward to finding out firsthand.

Suckage! And, yeah, that's not the way *I've* ever seen it work.

(What's up with the crazy copays? That seems like SO MUCH!)

(Hey, if you need someone last minute and you felt comfy with it, I'm free Fridays as a general rule, soon to be just about every day, after May 15.)

I'm sorry she is puking again. :( Really doesn't sound like a virus because when they have those they just puke and puke and eventually it turns to diarrhea and then it leaves. I bet it's sinus drainage that is causing it. Joel's Mom told me that he used to have horrible sinus drain/puke in the spring because of allergies, etc... I'm sure your ped will help you figure something out. Poor little Gus. Give her a hug from Emma and I (oh, and one for you too!).

I find with the babysitting stuff, it never hurts to ask - I'm ALL for them getting their just benefits, like vacation, etc., but I have also become more comfortable with asking for what I need too. For example, we pay for a full week, but in July and August I have Friday's off. I was nervous, but asked if we could just pay for 4 days a week those two months, and lo and behold, she said yes! So we saved a bundle, with no hard feelings on her side!

And you did give her notice, so she could scale back her assistants if needed... I say, just ask and see what she says! After all, a little flexibility on her part is a good thing, and lord knows she'll ask the same of you in one way or another. (like the other day when my lady shut down at 4 - with only two days notice - because she had a hair appointment! grr!)

Of course, only you know what the vibe is...

And of course, best wishes to you and the Punk - so sorry you're going through this again!!!!!

I wanted to add after talking to Joel that dairy products (esp milk) make his stomach upset when he has sinus drainage.

Uck!!! I hear ya.

J. was doing SO MUCH BETTER yesterday... he ate quite a bit and only had a little bit of diarrhea and a little puking so I know he kept some food in. And he's not dehydrated or feverish and is still playful and stuff. But this morning? Massive diarrhea. I was hoping he'd have a good 24-hour stretch of no diarrhea today so I could send him to day care tomorrow. But I really can't send him tomorrow if he's still this sick today.

And I will also be taking him to the ped or at least calling.

I am sending you healing vibes, but maybe you don't want the ones I have to offer.

The stress of needing to get work done (job searching is work) and not being able to send the kid to day care sucks. But what're ya gonna do?

However, unlike you, I don't have to pay if he doesn't go, and I can add an extra day of day care in this week as long as they haven't reached their capacity. It's a first-come-first-serve type deal. You could check to see if they have room for Punk on Thursday. Ya never know.

Hugs.

hugs re: the sick punker. jordan is sick here too...puked pretty much all night last night. thought maybe he ate too much at dinner...because he ate a ton. but when the puking continued all night, that theory kinda went out the window. so, penny is home with him today and taylor went to daycare. as for the daycare, yeah, we pay too when they are not there. but, we definitely can trade those missed days for other days if possible, so we still get our four days a week of care. (i don't work on thursdays and the kids are home with me.) if the center is closed for a snow day, or they miss some other day for some reason (i.e. illness), then i always ask if they can go on thursdays instead. as long as the staffing is ok, they always say ok. even though m did not volunteer the trade of a day, i would definitely ask. it never hurts to ask. good luck and i hope gus is feeling better very soon! hugs.

Sorry to hear about the pukies. Ick. Daycare is sucky like that - your kid picks up a virus or something while they're there, and then you can't bring them there. Um, how'd the sick get there in the first place? (Not that Punk has a virus, but if she did, she got it from the other germ-vectors posing as babies).

Is it possible for Jen to take a little sick time off to allow you to go to your interview? It would really suck if you missed that opportunity. I have no idea what J's workplace is like in that regard, but you're legally allowed to take sick time if your kid is sick.

I've already told her I would do it and if she needs to go I will take the time off from work and come home so she can shower and go to the interview....

This is Jen btw....heh
