Punk was out cold in the crib at 7:07pm. She hasn't gone to sleep that early since before we set the clocks ahead. She was just SO tired - she practically drank her nighttime bottle in her sleep and then turned her head and fell into my arm. Out cold. I put her down in the crib and she didn't even stir for a second. Maybe she'll sleep all night! (Ha ha ha ha.)

Part of it is that she has to wake up earlier now for day care (and has been getting up earlier because of the sun anyway) - around 6:45 when for a while she was sleeping until 8 (that was nice). And she just had her first full day of child care so her afternoon nap wasn't as great as it could have been.

I have to say, I feel like I won the child care provider lottery, though. She sent this in an e-mail this evening: PM nap didn't seem to be happening and she was starting to get wired so I tried as long as I could and then just strapped her on and walked her around, she fell asleep w/in 10 minutes. Yep, I left a mei tai at her house "just in case" and she plopped Punk in it and walked around until she fell asleep. Nice. (Interesting that Punk does not usually fall asleep in carriers for me. But hey, whatever.)

The job interview went well. He wants me to come for a second interview with the other supervisors next week (he actually wanted me to come tomorrow but I have two interviews tomorrow) and expressed hope that the other interview people don't "snatch me up." It's nice to be wanted, and their Fee For Service rate is $5-$7/hour higher than one of the EI programs.

Also, when I got home tonight there was a message from another job wanting to schedule an interview. I must look good on paper. :)

Awesome job with the searching and kudos to your child care provider strapping Gus on for a nappy ride. Isn't it great how they do things for others that they won't do for you?? Stinkers.

Wow, you're doing so well with the job hunting! You should become a job hunting counsellor or trainer or something!

It's just because I am THAT cool!

(Or because I write good cover letters. Heh.)

Actually, I'm a hot commodity because I have my independent social work license, yet I am not a program director or supervisor. So I'm way more experienced than most direct service providers. (I just move too much to be able to move up in the world.)

When Punk got big and started really stretching the Moby, I ditched it and moved to the mei tai and Ergo. She liked front-facing in the Moby but she got way too heavy.

I know, right? LOVE HER.

Punk had a lot of poopy diapers today, really messy ones, because she started antibiotics yesterday for her ear infection. She APOLOGIZED for the poopy diapers. As if it's her fault!

Yay! Coming from someone who had an extra-smart non-sleeper for a long time (I won't tell you how long), child care can really make a change for the better in two ways: one, it can help regulate night sleep, which little punkins' benefit from most and two, it can give a super smart kiddo in need of stimulation some variety and stimulation.

I always thought I needed to protect the baby from getting too much stimulation, but gifted kiddos need less sleep in infancy (luckily this passes as they get older). It sounds a lot like you have one of those smart, alert, non-sleepers. I still, to this day regret not having put my son in child care part time. He's six and amazing, but it would have made a big difference even now. We went the nanny route part time, and for him, child care would have been better.

Here's to good sleeping for all of you, you awesome mama!

There is light at the end of the tunnel. I promise I now have an amazing sleeper!!!

Its always different with the sitter... Nathaniel wont nap alone for me, but he will the sitter... its only THIS week that I am putting him in his "special" bed in my room and telling him to roll over and go to sleep and he is actually doing it... I need to figure out how the heck I am supposed to get to sleep now without him in bed with me.

He wants his binki as SOON as he sees me but he knows at the sitters he only gets it at nap time... very strange

I am so totally jealous of you people and your good-looking paper! My wife got the job she has now after about two weeks of jobhunting. It takes me months and months to find a new job, unless someone I know gets me an in.
