Did I mention that my kid has been sleeping in a toddler bed for two weeks now?

Easiest freaking transition we've ever done.

Perhaps potty training can miraculously be that easy.

Potty training was a breeze with Julia.

My kid does NOT want to use the potty. I ask her, "Hey, want to sit on the potty?" She says, "No thank you. I already went."

I think I'm just going to throw underwear on her and have at it.

Throwing underwear on her is working pretty well with mine so far (knock wood). She still insists on a diaper when she needs to poop, but she's peeing in the potty pretty consistently. Good luck!

Oh BTW, do you need a winter coat for her? I found one that's a little tight on Ruthie. Dark blue with silver trim. Let me know. And I haven't forgotten that I promised to look through my piles of outgrown clothing for you...sooner or later...Are you interested in the boy stuff too?

So how did you transition to the toddler bed? Inquiring minds (who are admittedly getting tired of waking up with shoulder and back pains from being the only one in the family bed getting contorted into strange positions -- and that includes the dachshund) want to know.

Tell me your toddler bed story...we are facing that in the upcoming months.

Thanks for the offer, but we have a winter coat already (another hand-me-down, it's awesome). Boy stuff is totally fine too, especially pants (cargo pants and stuff) but the rugby type shirts or whatever, Punk poo-poos them ("not pretty enough").

Awesome about Ruthie and the potty! I hope we have that kind of luck!

To be fair, we didn't go from the family bed to the toddler bed... we have been working on her sleeping all night in her room for a couple of months now. We used bribery ("if you sleep all night in the crib you can watch Thomas in the morning") and eventually some tough love (I would take her into bed with me and if she was rolling around like mad or not sleeping, I would put her back in her room and she would get upset). So then when she was pretty regularly sleeping through, she asked to turn her crib into a bed and we would say, "When you start sleeping all night in the crib." Then she started saying, "I slept all night in the crib, can we turn it into a bed now?" so we gave it a try.

It actually was going perfectly until the two-year-molars started making an appearance and she has had a heck of a time falling asleep.

I thought it would be awful and she would be running around the room like a nut for hours on end... but she's pretty good about going to sleep. If something keeps her from falling asleep, though, she does get into stuff. Like right now, she's getting molars and she totally emptied her laundry hamper into her bed last night, oops.

Otherwise it has kind of been a non-issue. If she is not sleeping and I go in and there are toys in the bed, I take them out, tell her it's time to sleep, and leave again.
