Bravery!

I did a brave thing today. I made an appointment for a haircut. Why is this brave, especially since I really need one? It's brave, dear friends, because my ear is still VERY sore, and sticks way out, and is begging to be brushed and snipped and clipped and whacked and bumped.

Please oh please oh please let this not happen! I go tomorrow at 2. Think of me!

I am going to this place that Coworker Hope mentioned to me once, instead of the cheap-o walk-in place I usually go to. So I should, like, actually get something /done/ to my hair. We'll see. I want my brother's haircut, but somehow I think that would be a little /too/ much 'walking in Baga's shoes.' Hee. Suggestions? (With photos would be best. Yeah!)

Maybe when I head down toward campus I should check and see what my books are for next quarter. Maybe I should eat lunch. Maybe they won't rip my ear out. Maybe maybe maybe.

I don't know if my ear is really infected or if it's just sore and swollen from the wound. It doesn't leak or ooze or anything, and when I look at it from the back in the mirror, it looks very clean and stuff. *shrug* Maybe I'm just impatient and want it to heal RIGHT NOW! Crap, that reminds me, I went to Target and forgot to get some stuff.

Today I ordered juliann's present (which will be late, sorry!), bought a belated birthday gift for Carrie (Lorac), got the big present for my Secret Pal at Children's, got a birthday card for my Daddy, and tried to find an eye doctor but there aren't any listed on my plan's website. What's up with that? Are there NO eye doctors in-network? GAH! And I went to pick up the photos of me and Baga but they weren't ready. They were supposed to be ready Wednesday. Phooey. But one of the presents I ordered for rizzo41 was delivered to my house today. YAY!

Still left to buy for: Baga, Dad's birthday, Princess, the cats. Do I get a present for A.? Do I get gifts for the parentals even though I'm giving them a photo of me and Baga? Decisions.

Last night at karate, I announced that I wanted short hair. Very short. Just like we talked about.

And holy crow did the shit hit the fan.

I had a black belt hugging me, pleading with me not to. She was gushing about my long hair and how it framed my face nicely and all sorts of very mushy/gushy/pleading stuff.

And then as we were running at the beginning of class, she ran next to me and we talked. We agreed that if she beat me in sparring, that I'd keep my hair long. If I won, I got to get it cut.

We fight on Tuesday. Wish me luck!

P.S. I think I want Daniel Larusso's haircut.

The day after I got my eyebrow done (the first time) was the day Kim and I were the guinea pigs - err, practice models at that trendy salon. I warned her about my eyebrow and would cringe whenever I saw her comb going anywhere near that side of my head. She was trying to be quick and impress her teacher. Too bad she got me with the long dirty hair, eh? HA! Anyway, she was just as nervous that she was going to rake me as I was that she was going to pull it. People are usually pretty squeamish about stuff like that, so they will prolly be extra careful if you point it out. They'll have to be extra careful around your ears, anyway. If I remember correctly you've got about 4,000 decorations just waiting to be caught in a comb. Good luck.

Christina: About getting hair cut short... You just GOTTA do it. I'm still not sure if I like mine long or short, but at least I now know what my hair looks like short. It'll grow back in no time at all if I wanted it to. People are so much nicer to me and notice me as some sort of queer now that my hair is short -- before I was ignored and Megan got all of the looks, that was completely unacceptable!

Usually I don't mind when they rake over or brush my earrings, because they don't hurt. Once I had someone actually yank an earring out of my ear - ouch! And I got my conch ring caught in clippers once - that was SO LOUD.

I do hope they're careful, but you're right - she will probably be nervous and careful. I hope so. :)
