(After reading [livejournal.com profile] happy2beso's livejournal, I have The Rhymer's jingles in my head. Drat!)

I really like warm weather after Daylight Savings Time. I feel like I have so much more day, and because of that, I'm much busier. And when the weather is warmer, I want to be outside more. This makes me happy, happy makes me social, and social makes the world go round. Today, I had a taste of socialsummerhappyjude. Yay!

It was a usual Wednesday at work, with early morning at WYHS and RJHS. I got to the office at 11:30 and made some phone calls, ate lunch, and went to supervision at 12:30, which was good as usual. Team meeting at 1:30. My 2:30 didn't show, but I got to connect with the teacher of the child I was supposed to see at 2:30, so it was informative anyway. My 3:30 came and went, and I got home at 5:30. This gave me just enough time (30 minutes) to change and eat some food before heading to kickboxing.

Kickboxing was fun. We went over the new kicks we learned, practiced forms, and did some power stuff. There's a belt test next week, and part of me really wants to take it, but I'm not going to. Patience, and all of that. Still, the stuff for the yellow belt test is not hard. On my way to kickboxing, Lara called me to say she was bored and wanted to go out. I ended up calling her after class got out and she still wanted to do something.

I got back to my apartment with just enough time to peel off kickboxing clothes and put on the clothes I wore to work (since they were still on the bed). Then I bolted out the door to meet Lara and Missy Goodtimes for dinner at J&G's in the Short North. I had one of Lara's feta thingers and a whole lotta hummus. Mmmm.

When we were standing outside J&G's so Lara could finish her phone call with Alexis, I saw someone walking down High Street that I was pretty sure I recognized. I tried to make eye contact to see if he recognized me, but he didn't meet my gaze. I debated on what to do. Lara asked for a ride home, so I told her I would if she would go into the Coffee Table with me to see if it was the person I thought it was.

Me: Excuse me. Are you Joe?
Guy: Yeeeeeah.
Me: Joe from Stonewall, Joe?
Joe: Yeeeah.
Me: You don't recognize me, do you?
Joe: You have [insert hand gesture here] much less hair.
Me: YAY!

So Joe and I exchanged information and promised to contact each other and get together - YAY! Joe was one of my favorite volunteers at Stonewall, and he is friends with Shannon, who was another of my favorite boys. So maybe we can all party like rockstars! Joe and I used to talk a lot and have a lot of fun together, so I was so glad to see him. I hadn't talked to him in almost a year. WOW. I got to tell him that A. and I broke up, and his eyes almost bugged out. Oops.

Then I saw this boy that I know that I don't like, so we boogied out of there and I brought the girls home. It's so exciting and nice and wonderful and fun to be busy and social. :)

I have a boy's email address written on my hand. I am such a stud.

Your userpic got me thinking.
Do you still have your tongue pierced?
Did you like it?
Did it hurt?
I have been dreaming about one for years... :)

Yes, I still have my tongue pierced.

Yes, I like it. Otherwise I wouldn't have kept it for 6 years. :)

No, it didn't particularly hurt a lot to get done, but it /was/ swollen and uncomfortable for several days. Ask [livejournal.com profile] hopemcg, [livejournal.com profile] siercia, or [livejournal.com profile] kungfoogirl - all of them have pierced their tongues recently.

Go crazy, girlie!

I too dreamed about piercing my tongue for a looooong time before I did, and I'm so glad I did.

I thought that it *did* hurt when I had it done, everyone else I've ever talked to said it didn't hurt. The first couple of days afterwards sucked a lot. Your tongue is all swollen, it hurts, you can't really eat, and you're trying to function with a big metal bar in your mouth. NOT great!

But, I would still say it was entirely worth it. I love having it now.

Did hurt? Like hurt how?
Like break your leg hurt? Like tattoo hurt? :)

And I know the after-stuff sucks a bit, but I could live on shakes and mashed potatoes for a week. :)
I also heard gly-oxide helps.

Any other opinions?

NO!

Gly-oxide has been taken off the market in most states, for lots of reasons. The most important one is that it is unsanitary. Bacteria gets into the bottle (because, heh, you hold it on/very near your mouth) and contaminates the whole thing.

And it tastes disgusting!!

My dumbass stepmonster told my sister to use it for hers.
She actually did really well and it healed nicely.
She's having more problems with the Nipple peircing than the tongue.

I soooooo want to do it.

I had a lot of problems with my nipple piercing, too. It's flat skin, first of all, so whenever your skin relaxes, you run the risk of it growing out. Second, your nipple rubs against your bra (if you wear one) and messes with it.

Whee! I had to take out my nipple ring in 1998. :(

I would so not ever pierce my nipple. I'm sorry.
I'm too fond of them intact.
And I'm a pain wuss. (for the most part)
No one is sticking a needle into my nipple. Nope. Nuh-uh!

More than tattoo hurt, but much more briefly, thank goodness. It was sharper, more pronounced. Easily on par with how much my nose piercing hurt. For some reason, it made me kind of woozy too (might have been the anticipation, but I don't know for sure) and I needed to sit for a bit. I also started swelling pretty quickly, so I'd advise having a thing of ice water on hand to drink right after. It helped me a lot.

Did I mention that despite all this, it was absolutely worth it?

I think you did mention how much it was worth it... and well, I know it will be, which is why I'm obsessing!!! :)
As for the pain... I'm sure I could tolerate it if I wanted it bad enough... isn't that how it is for anything, though?
And yes, I will definately have an icy beverage handy... my sib didn't and had the bleh taste of blood in her mouth until she got home! Also, ice couldn't hurt the swelling.

I also heard a suggestion of taking two ibuprofen beforehand.
Again, thoughts?
