judecorp: (strange place)
Overheard at lunch today during my GLBT Helpline training during several random conversations:

Young Guy: (low voice) Do you have a LiveJournal?
Young Woman: Yeah, do you?
Me: ACK! LiveJournal is EVERYWHERE!!?!?!

Dude, I thought the ever-pervasiveness of LJ was totally a Columbus thing. Boy was I ever fecking wrong! Maybe I /can/ be a REAL ROCK STAR here!

p.s. In the same conversation, said Young Guy told Young Woman that when he was thinking of volunteering, he googled "GLBT Helpline" and came up with an LJ entry. (He asked if it was hers.) I followed along quietly, all the while thinking in my head, "Good gods, I bet it's totally mine." (I'm in the Top 50 of Googled LJs, yo!)

And I came home.

And I checked.

And it is SO me.

(p.s. Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] vorpalbla!)
judecorp: (love doesn't hurt)
The greatest thing about this weekend (and really, about the entire month of February easy and maybe even all of 2005) was our visit from Peas and Sarah, even if it was painfully short because of my helpline training. It was so comfortable and so wonderful to see them (and Kate) in our home, just to lay on the couch with them and tell stories and laugh. My god, what I wouldn't give to bring them here all the time. I feel so complete with them next to me. It sounds so cheesy and stupid but it's so true. I miss them so much already.

It's just so... easy to be friends with them and interact with them and spend time with them. We put on the Crazy Eye Glasses and Peas is going to upload photos. We took smiley group photos. We ate too much chinese food that came in a huge box because we ordered so much. I teased Sarah that she was the boy for carrying the box, and she was quick to point out that I kept opening her door. They slept nakie in our guest bed. It was just lovely.

It was so hard to leave this morning knowing that Peas, Sarah, and Kate were still in the apartment, and that Jen would be able to enjoy more of their company. Dar Williams's "Family" came on the iPod when I was T-ing to my training and I almost busted out crying in the middle of the train... and they hadn't even left town yet. I kept trying to convince them to just stay in our guest room forever, and I lament that they weren't able to do so.

I felt whole again for a few hours last night and this morning, and I would give anything to get that back. We've really been searching for them our whole lives.
Can you fix this? it’s a broken heart.
It was fine, but it just fell apart.
It was mine, but now I give it to you,
Cause you can fix it, you know what to do.

Let your love cover me,
Like a pair of angel wings,
You are my family,
You are my family.
