Apparently my great-uncle (my grandfather's brother), who has been on-and-off sick for a while now, is back to being on-sick, to the point that my grandfather is preparing himself for his brother's imminent death. This is all kind of surreal, since the last death in my immediate family was about 25 years ago when my vovo (great-grandmother) died at age 93. I guess I'm gifted with not only a small family (no one had more than two children) but a hardy one. It's weird that you can fit my entire immediate family in like one room. Even if you count my estranged relatives on my mother's side, I still only have /three/ first cousins, one uncle, two aunts (one by marriage), one brother. But I miraculously still have three living grandparents.
I think it's hard for my grandfather because his brother (at 89) is only a few years older than he is, and he probably thinks he sees his future in him. Gosh I hope that's not true. I'm certainly not ready for anything to happen to my grandparents, especially since they're still quite healthy unlike Uncle Ralph who has been sick for a long time.
Aah well.
