judecorp: (keep going)
I knew that I shouldn't have had that cup of coffee around 9:30 or 10pm, but I really wanted something warm to drink and that pot of Brazilian coffee smelled soooo goooooood. Now my body is tired but my brain just will not stop, which is a problem for me at night even without coffee. Usually I don't ingest any caffeine after lunchtime so this is a Big Deal. And I'd had a Diet Coke at around 6:30 besides. Yow.

We went to Olex and Jen's place for a little hors d'oeuvres get together tonight which ended up being a little private affair of the four of us plus their friend Mike ([livejournal.com profile] mathwhiz78) who was visiting from the midwest. He was quite lovely and more than a little nerdy, which of course I can dig. We watched football playoffs and played board games, an odd but enjoyable combination.

Even though I don't hear from Crystal anymore, I'm really glad we met and used to be close because she introduced me to Olex. O&J are really fabulous people that we love a lot, both individually and as a couple, and sometimes you just need a couple of those. Though I don't get a chance to go out or make plans nearly as often as I'd like, I have to admit that I've met some great people out here... and surprisingly enough, almost all of them are from work, which is a first for me and especially surprising because when I met them, I thought they were all the Stepford Social Workers. (Some of them are, I suppose, but there are a bunch of cool ones in there.)

Whenever we blow out of this dump, we will certainly miss Olex and Jen, and Gina and Ben, as well as the Usual Suspects. Coworker Sarah (Part II, not to be confused with Coworker Sarah from Ohio whom I also miss terribly) and Coworker Funk also make the list.

I really wish I could get some sleep, because we have a big day tomorrow. We need to get up early enough to get supplies and make squash soup for a HelpLine potluck at 1pm, and then we're supposed to meet up with LU3KE for dinner somewhere in town. And then the usual Sunday laundry. So: must. sleep.

But I'm way excited to see Luke! I missed me some Veggie xhardxcorex.

On one hand, I'm grateful that only one side of my nose/face is all congested and blocked up with snot. On the other hand, I'm really tired of blowing all this crap out of my left nostril all the freaking time.

As expected, got very little sleep last night. We got up early so we could make squash soup for the potluck, and I started the laundry while Jen went to the grocery store. We made the soup, a different recipe than last time and a little blander (drat), took fast showers and dashed off to the potluck. I guess this is how we do it, making life together. As a child I always thought this would be a more dramatic process infused with wisdom I was not yet privvy to.

The Yankee Swap was fruitful, with us scoring some crazy-ass t-shirt and a "Mr. Wonderful" doll who says things like, "Oh, honey, take as long as you'd like to get ready, I don't mind waiting another minute." This will soon be recycled in Candace's Yankee Swap at our work winter party. I shall have to find some sort of accessories. Perhaps a can of whipped cream and some cheesy romantic music.

We got to see Jenny and Lisa, whch was nice. Note to self: Make more plans with them. Also Jilly and Joanna and of course Lyssa. Good times.

In a couple of hours we'll head up to Harvard for a late dinner with Mr. Luke Veggie. Madness will ensue, provided I'm awake and conscious by then. I'll be tipped over on the ground, all lopsided by the left-side-snotmonster.
