We headed out of Rhode Island a little early today because my grandparents weren't around (bummer). We got rid of all of the donation stuff and I did a cursory sweeping of the basement, with a brief interlude from the useless "tenants" (I put it in quotes because they don't pay rent ever) stopping to tell me that they're going to pay some money "soon." Whatever.

Since it was a really sunny day and there wasn't much going on, Jen and I decided to check out my latest obsession, Winthrop. It's coastal and (fairly) affordable, and besides, The Dark Overlord is always going on about it. It's actually really cute, but kind of out of the way. Thinking about commuting to work from there makes me dizzy. I'm quite used to my 4 minute commute. (Spoiled.) But anywhere we might go to try to save some rent money is going to be out of the way. Unless gets a job that is outside of downtown, it makes sense to stay on the T. But if she ended up working elsewhere, then we'd need a second car. Either way, it sucks. It's just way too expensive here.

It IS quite lovely in Winthrop by the Sea, though. Lots of kids playing, lots and lots of coastline. There was so much sun today and it made the water look even more gorgeous. I almost wish it made sense for us to live on the Cape because I love having so much water around. (Quincy's just not the same, really.)

Jen got a 3.9% pay increase at her job. That's cool, but 3.9% of peanuts is still peanuts. To think that we're (together) making more than we ever have and we're broker than we were three years ago is kind of surreal. I wish someone would just hand me a big bag of money and get it over with.

Ultrasound tomorrow to see if I'm growing some follicles. Hopefully there's some good looking stuff in there. It's 4 days earlier than my last u/s so I'm thinking they probably won't be cooked enough. We'll see. I hope there's two or three!

What's even funnier is the e-mail I got from Coworker Funk today. She (and I, I suppose, if we're being honest) has this little obsession with that R. Kelly "Trapped in the Closet" series. I mean, really, it's one of the most ridiculous things ever, and if you haven't heard any of it, you're lucky.

So yeah, we're always singing stuff in the style of "Trapped in the Closet." (You know, things like, "And I opened up the closet. And there was a lot of paperwork in the closet. And I had to do the filing. I did the filing in the closet. Then I gave her a baby.") And the other day I saw online that the Coolidge was going to have a midnight showing of all of the parts of the "opera" WITH SING-ALONG. And of course I had to call her and let her know.

She sent me e-mail that went on about what a lyrical genius R. Kelly was and how he's the next Bob Dylan. And then she wrote me her very own "opera" about her events this morning:

He's scary on so many levels. You should also check out "In the Kitchen" on his website. I'm telling you, he's a lyrical genius. I'm inspired. This morning my mom made whole wheat blueberry pancakes for my dad and me. I want to write a song:

And then she poured the batter on the griddle.
And then she sprinkled on some blueberries.
And then she flipped the pancake.
She flipped over the pancake.
She was frying the pancake.
There were bubbles on the pancake.
She was frying the pancake.

I can NOT stop laughing about this. Because, well, she's got the format down PERFECTLY.
