I went to my landlords to pick up my keys and pay my July rent. Then, because I am such a smartiepants, I went to the apartment to make sure the keys worked (they do). It's a good thing I went, because my social security card and my new Citibank card were both in the mailbox. Oops.
I figured it would be good to survey the place when it was empty (when it was showed, the past tenant was still there) and get a better idea where to put things. It wasn't exactly as I remembered, but still pretty darned good, especially for the price.
On the down side, the carpet is in worse shape than I saw with the other person's furniture in there, and there's a stain in the bedroom that looks like it came from the carpet cleaning solution. The linoleum is scuffed, and the hallway is a little different than I remember. The shower water pressure isn't ideal. The apartment door sticks. There's not much storage space.
On the up side, the ratty carpet will come in handy since I have a cat that likes to scratch and pick at carpet. There are more windows that I remember, and they can let in a good amount of light. It is nice and cool in there. The kitchen cabinets are plentiful, and there is a food pantry, too. The stove and refrigerator are near perfect. The bedroom closet is nice and long. There are nice shelves for towels in the bathroom.
So, all in all, it's a nice little place. And there are only like 6 steps going down, which will be easier to move than I'd remembered. Yay! It's going to be fun!
Moving day is Sunday. Road Runner gets installed there on Monday. Gas and electric are already on. Mail is being delivered. Keys work. It's about time.
