Long time, no LJ. Sometimes it's a wonder I actually made it to Columbus. I had a 3:15pm flight from Providence to Pittsburgh and they delayed it until 4:15pm when they promptly cancelled it due to maintenance concerns. They announced that everyone should go back to the ticket counter (outside security) and make new arrangements. Some of us fast-walkers got fairly close in line and they then announced that they were putting all of our baggage in Baggage Claim and we'd need to get it and then recheck it. There was no way I was losing my supreme place in line.
So I got my new itinerary which was leaving at 6:36pm, and then I went down and got my suitcase and brought it back up so the person could put the sticker thinger on it. I called my Daddy and told him to come take me to dinner. We went, but we drove all over the place because he couldn't decide where he wanted to go and we eventually settled on this weird Chinese food buffet, and all my dad ate was duck. Three plates of duck. Qvacksies! Then we got turned around and lost. I got to the airport at 6:05pm, went to the restroom, went through security, and began walking to the gate at 6:16pm.
I was the last person to board an entirely full 757 jet.
I guess they'd boarded early since most of the people had been waiting since early afternoon, and I ran in and apologized a lot, and of course they'd given me a window seat so two people had to get up so I could get in. I think they were all just so glad to get on a plane, though, so no one gave me any crap. I got back to Columbus at 10:10pm which means I missed going to the More Than Music Fest with
millarose for her birthday. :(
However, I did get home at 10:30ish to the lovely
doulamel and my well-tended kitties (I swear she was trying to turn them against me!). We headed to the new Brazen Head Pub in Grandview to have a drink with the newly-returned
happy2beso (whom I missed terribly!) and
356dreamer. I also met some lovely people like Jerry, Scott, Ray, Jen, and the neat Brendan Fraser lookaline,
mrblue92. I had a pint of Guinness and then bailed, though, because I was tired and felt bad that I came home, dumped my bags, and abandoned my cats again. Oops. Bad mom.
Melissa slept over because she needed to meet a potential doula client in German Village at 10am, and we stayed up too late talking. It was hard to sleep in my own bed because I'm used to sleeping on so many other beds - Grandma's, Chaz's sofabed, Wiley and Jenn's spare bed... I settled into my bed and my mind just whirred whirred whirred.
Relationship advice from my dad: "So she moves to Columbus. And if you don't want to be together anymore, just introduce her to new people. Tell them she's single." My dad is insane, but I love him. Lumberjacks. (The other day he said that Jennifer should move to Columbus. His words were, and I quote, "I'm sure they have work for lumberjacks in Columbus." Meep!)
In other news, I have a really big, really scary decision looming over me, and I really don't have the first clue what to do anymore. I don't know why I even make decisions, they always end up being outdated, insignificant, or the wrong things to do. Phooey. I'll write about that later, I'm sure, but for now, there's a ducky shower that's calling my name, and cat boxes to clean.
