Walking and having tea with Missy Goodtimes is good fun. I'm glad she's in the neighborhood.

Having Sean tell me he walked by my place and would have stopped but it looked like I wasn't home (I wasn't - see above) makes me happy.

Getting emailed HAWT pictures of Ani DiFranco and Julie Wolf is always a good thing. Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] grrrrrindigo!

I am really going to miss Lara. Travel safely. Visit often.

Other than that, I should just shut up most of the damned time. Even if the questions are asked of me, I should have the fucking common sense not to answer them. Argh!

I give you half a point just for being nice to me yesterday.

And that rounds up to one. So you're tied.

Of course is what everyone says is the best course of action. Say nothing, hurt no one. But say nothing also means help no one. Personally, I try to help everyone that wanders into my radar. I probably am a be to forceful with my assistance, but no one can accuse me of standing by. Mistakes happen, people get hurt...but in the long run, you learn and then can help others better. That's the trick of it all...as long as you learn, you're still a good person.

It HAS to be at least 1-1. You still get a point for the other day.

You know, I have always believed that I should be honest first and worry about the consequences later. I've lived my whole life this way, and though people would get upset or hurt, I always sort of held on to the idea that I was doing the right thing, because at least I was honest, at least everyone knew where I stood.

I guess I'm starting to doubt if this is the best policy. :(

I also try to live honestly. Everyone tells me that it's a bad idea and it only leads to trouble.

And every time my life gets soap-operatic, I can clearly see that the first thing that happens is that issues between people don't get resolved because one party doesn't talk about them, and the other party doesn't know they exist - because no one will tell them.

This is one of those circumstances that make me wish I was in charge of an Orwellian Government so I could brainwash everyone into telling the truth - so I could finally see what happens if people are actually honest. Sigh. It's a good thing I don't, though. My Orwellian tendencies would so destroy all my dreams of a happy, productive, prosperous, free civilization.

Eh...I'm not sure honesty is always the best policy. But helping people is. Why the difference? There is no such thing as the truth. It's all a matter of perspective after all.

True. I suppose what I mean by "telling the truth," then, is telling others my perspective as honestly as I can.

Well....again, honesty is rarely welcomed in most cases. People rather enjoy their dellusions and unless they are really being harmed by them, there is no real reason to pop their bubble. Some people need their dellusions just to get by. Lets face it, the world can be a pretty crappy place sometimes.

You know, I don't think I would like it if everyone was completely honest all of the time. For example, I don't think I really need to know what people think of my presents when they don't like them. (Smile, thank, donate. Yes.) However, I think honesty goes a long way.

I also wonder if I'm the type of person who uses "brutal honesty" to rationalize "meanness," but that's a post for another day, I think. :)
