Today Missy Goodtimes came over to show me some pictures she had recently gotten developed. Some of them were from Pride and Lara's party, and she gave me the doubles. I have been looking for pictures to put in some of my little frames (I took the pictures of A. out of them a long time ago) and decided to use one of the pictures she took of Rob, me, and Melissa. It's cute!

Then I realized that that particular photo, and the one of Jennifer and I kissing on the beach, are the only two photos in this entire house that show me the way I look right now. I have a zillion electronic pictures (but a crappy printer) and only this little handful of paper photographs.

Most of my framed photos are group photos from college or earlier. I like having these pictures that actually look like me. It makes me feel like I've actually made memories here and now, memories on shiny paper encased in protective glass.

My mind is heavy tonight. I wish I had someone to talk to. Face to face under a coverlet of summer stars would be perfect, but a voice on the telephone would work, too. Thing is, I don't even know what I would say, if I had a co-chatter.

Thus my reluctancy to getting a digital camera (Though they are super-cool). Glad you liked the pictures.:)

Yeah, I worry that if I get a digital camera, I will never use my paper camera anymore. And then what would I do?

p.s. Thank you.

Have a lot more pictures?

There's lots of services you can send files and get prints of them.

I'll second this one. While I'm personally fond of shutterfly because gallery uses it, there was a really spiff comparison of online photofinishing services in the April 2002 issue of Yahoo! Internet Life (unfortunately, the digital photography article from that issue isn't online). Want my back issue? I'm still working on curbing my paper-packratness, so I've got about a year's worth of back issues for everything I subscribe to. I am trying to get rid of them all before I move again.

prunesnprisms: This is what I for not cutting and pasting.

All: Disregard the incorrect URL, it's shutterfly.com.

Maybe I should give in to the calling of the Dvorak keyboard?

Thanks for the offer, but since I don't have a digital camera (and no job, hence no disposable income), it's a moot point.
