Bugsy and Capone
Jul. 16th, 2002 11:03 pmI met a new volunteer today, Leah. I'd met her once before, but on that day we were all there: me, Bucky, Bucky's Adam, and Leah - so of course I was pretty busy toning Adam down and goofing off. Tonight it was just me and Leah, and we got to chat some, and she's really nice. We went through everything - past relationships, high school, family, movies. I got to relay my funny story about Jennifer and Bound, too, which always gives me the giggles.
We were playing Monopoly with this one youth (I /hate/ Monopoly and this particular youth was getting on my nerves), and she kept cracking me up. This is a good thing, because otherwise I would have gone ballistic. I was calling the two of us "the axis of evil" (because we owned everything on the first and fourth quadrants of the board), but she kept calling us "the lesbian mafia." She was calling herself "Capone" and me "Bugsy."
It's so weird, but now that A. and I aren't together, the other volunteers at Kaleidoscope seem to bond with me more. The people in my volunteering "class" (as in, we got trained at the same time) were always nice to me, but I never seemed to volunteer with them. Other volunteers I didn't know well were different, though - it was like I wasn't part of their reindeer games. I felt that way at Stonewall a little bit, too, which was new for me: I wasn't used to sticking out for being in an opposite sex relationship.
On my walk home (I decided to walk to Kaleidoscope for some exercise), I stopped at Missy's house and watched this crazy show called "Mole." It reminded me of why I don't watch television. However, she was nice enough to make me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with this wonderful blueberry preserves, and it was really yummy. She offered me hot sex, but I settled for a glass of water. We're trying to decide on a prize for

So now all of a sudden I'm a part of the Lesbian Axis of Evil. And that's pretty damned funny.
