It's been a while, I know. I realize now that I've been mostly incommunicado for nearly two weeks.
millarose called me this morning while I was at work, and she was like, "I'm calling because you kept saying we would get together!" and I felt like such a schmuck saying, "Yeah, I totally want to, but I haven't really seen anyone or done anything for two weeks." Oops.
These past two weeks have been lovely, yet chaotic. There was someone waiting at home for me every night. I couldn't sleep in the middle of the bed. I've had a permanent dinner partner. I've had to close the bathroom door to pee. I haven't gotten any of my usual routine stuff done (like LJ, email, sleep), and I feel somewhat strained because of that, but at the same time, I don't know that I'm looking forward to walking into a house tonight that doesn't have her in it.
I have done lots of fun things in this time period: Live Music! (Both The Reacharounds and Bitch and Animal, score!). Yummy Food (El Vaquero, Union Station, Cheesecake Factory, Tee Jaye's bagel sammidge, China Wok as always). Walks. Long conversations. Movies on the couch (including Dancer in the Dark with Ryan and Adam). A little impromptu house party at Rebecca's. Gallery Hop and running into lots of people. Running into Sara, Colin, and Cassie. Motorcycle ride with Steve. Laundry and Mad Libs with Katinka, who I'm glad I got to know. Trivial Pursuit. A big balloon hat at an Easton festival.
Things are settling down at work and I'm glad for that. I have a routine now and I'm happy with it. Hopefully it will stick and continue to work. I have a going-away party for a coworker tonight after work. I'm new, and I got invited. It was for the Work Elite. Go me! Jodie arrives tonight as well (provided all goes well in the friendly skies), though she is sick and hopefully she will feel better soon!
Jennifer has been visiting me for so long that I almost forget what it was like when she wasn't here. I have a hard time remembering what we did before Katinka arrived. I have a harder time remembering what it was like when she was at camp and we couldn't speak. She has big news about her life, her direction, and her calling - but that's hers to share. All I'll say is that I am very proud of her. I hope she's driving safely right now.
It was hard going to work this morning knowing that she would get in her Jeep and leave after I'd left. It will be harder still, I think, opening the door after Karl's party knowing that she won't be there. She's one of the best friends I've ever had (I'm seeing another one of those tonight, YAY! YAY! YAY!) and I can't wait to occupy her space again. (Oh, and those things we talked about last night on the way back from Little Brothers? Jokes, remember? HA HA HA HA.)
