Work Dress Code Policy

My coworker, Mr. C, just reminded me about the new dress code policy we received yesterday:

Hair must be clean, neat and under control at all times.

He just made 'whipcrack' motions and said, "Get that hair under control! Back! BACK!" at me.

Under control? What is that supposed to mean? Did they also include diagrams to show what kind of hair is acceptable and what kind isn't? Does clean mean that it can't be loaded with products? THat is such an odd and annoying statement.

I know - totally weird. I think that one of the reasons we have such a weird dress code (like the part that says that jewelry cannot hurt yourself or other people - hunh? what is that?) is because Lutheran Social Services also runs a nursing home. I would imagine that nurses would need to have their hair (and jewelry?) "under control" for safety reasons or whatever.

Still, I asked my boss about dying my hair blue, and she said, "Doesn't say anything about hair color on here." Yay.

Does this mean they'd like my shoulder-length mess? I never can get it to stay in hair elastics or barettes or anything, but it's not curly or anything to make up for it. I miss having waist-length hair I could braid and play with, but the shedding is making me nuts.

Now that we've done the family photos for the year, I think it's time for some serious hair-cutting. If I could stand it a little longer, I'd have it shorn off for donation, but I don't think much of it''s 10" or longer, so... meh.

I donated 12" of hair once. It was wedding hair, and I was so glad to get rid of it. (Too thick, too heavy.) I love haircuts. They make me so happy.
