Quick Update:

The Executive Director emailed me back before I even got into work this morning. He had forwarded my message to several people, including the Interim Chaplain and the Volunteer Coordinator. He asked me to work with the Volunteer Coordinator to find out who the preacher is, so they can tell him to never come back. The ED said something like, "It is unacceptable to allow this harassment of our clients." YAY! So now Matt and I are going to give him the boot!

And then the Interim Chaplain forwarded my message to the Interim Director of Chaplaincy Services, and he also wants it taken care of.

I am pleased with my organization and my coworkers.

Woo Hoo! Glad to hear that the loony preacher is getting kicked out. I wonder if he's one of the folks that preaches up on campus during the spring? They're pretty annoying, and the rhetoric sounds eerily like theirs.

Ha!

I don't think the preacher is Bro. Jed. We have a suspicion that he's from Ohio Prison Ministries, but we're not sure yet.

Oh, so he's maybe one of these guys that goes into the prisons, gets the Death-Row inmates to be "born again" and then tries to get their sentences commuted by saying "but he's a GOOD CHRISTIAN MAN now!!!"

Of course, the DP is another matter entirely. But it shouldn't exempt you if you're "born again", either.

If you had any doubt about where you work being a good place. . .

Lotta bullshit and hypocracy about that stuff, anyway. As governor of Texas, Bush allowed born-again (and rehabilitated in general) Christian Karla Faye Tucker to be executed. Not only that, he publicly made fun of her pleas for mercy. Maybe she wasn't reborn into the right denomination or something.

Excellent! (I didn't comment on the prequel post for this, but did find it very distressing!)

Oh, I totally understand. I just loathe when lawyers and ministers use someone's "born-again" Christianity as a reason why they shouldn't be executed. I know plenty of pagans, Jews and Muslims who would never think of hurting, let alone killing, another person, intentionally. It's not like born-again Christians have a corner on the market for compassion and decency.

Heck, if you're "born again" and going straight to heaven, wouldn't you want to get your final reward that much earlier?

Yeah, you would think that. But then, I think that these people rarely encounter logic in their flights of fancy.
