May. 5th, 2003 09:06 amUgh. Not feeling well. Overdid it yesterday, between the AIDS Walk and spending half the night talking and catching up with my friend Jean. My throat is on fire, but dry, like a New Mexican brush fire started by lightning. Ow. And I'm back to having a hard time breathing. Fantastic.
So now I'm having that internal debate about whether or not I should call out sick. Meh.

Date: 2003-05-05 06:13 am (UTC)But I do hope that you feel better.
I found your journal, and it felt somehow like being "home" again.
I am from Cincinnati(moved to Atlanta a year ago), I practiced social work
in Cinci for 6 years, the majority of it as an HIV/AIDS case manager. I still have very
good friends who live/work in Columbus- CATF, ODH, etc.
I would like to add you as a "friend" if you don't mind.
Have a wonderful Monday!
Peace~

Date: 2003-05-05 06:52 am (UTC)I spent some time in Atlanta - it's a beautiful place. Do you still do social work in Atlanta?
I was almost an HIV case manager for Southeast (here in C-bus), but I took the job at the shelter instead. Either job would have been cool.
Have a great day!

Re: Random Response
Date: 2003-05-05 07:07 am (UTC)Lately, though, I have been missing the work more and more. Unfortunately, to even be licensed in GA, you must have a Masters. Which I do not. So, until I go to grad school, I cannot practice. Oy vey. Sad, really.
Coming down for PRIDE this summer?
Let us know if you do...
Hope you are feeling somewhat better.
Drink some OJ. Stay home and get some good rest.

Date: 2003-05-05 08:34 am (UTC)We always like to meet new cool chicks in this city.
PRIDE is June 27-29 this year.
It typically coincides with Columbus PRIDE, which I have gone to for 6 six years up until last year when I had already moved down here. I weighed the options: Columbus, OH or Atlanta, GA festivities.
Yes, MSWs are pretty easy to get. Only problem is my student loan debt is outrageously high right now. Most are on forebearance. Once I can get them situated, hopefully by the end of the year, I can work on apps for schools for fall, 2004.
Keep the encouragement coming...I'll need it!!!!
Hows ya'feeling?
I'm about to hit the bed for a bit myself.
Feeling extremely BLAAAH.
Peace~

Date: 2003-05-07 06:38 am (UTC)Good luck with the whole grad school thing. You can definitely do it, if you want it. Last night, a friend and I were talking about the differences between jobs you just go to in order to have a life, and jobs that you live. I have the latter, and I'm glad. It depends on the person, though. I think people tend to live and breathe social work. :)
Hope you feel better!

Date: 2003-05-07 07:04 am (UTC)However, not in the same ways that social work is.
I'll get back into it...it will never leave my blood.
