Today was an up and down kind of day. I'm currently shaky, so I think after this, I will attempt to stick some food in my mouth, or at least some orange juice. Whee!

The morning started early, and with knee pain. Okay, now I really don't know what's up. I mean, last night, I got plenty of sleep, and am actually starting to feel better. My throat is still a little scratchy, but my nose has cleared up considerably, and my head doesn't feel swimmy, and I don't feel lethargic. YAY! I actually made it out and about all day today with no issue, really. But I don't understand this knee pain. I don't think it's the bed, because I've been sleeping in this bed for a while. And I don't know if it's the weather - sure, it's been humid, but not a consistent level of humidity. I just don't get it. So I took some Advil again, and took a shower to head out. (I hate taking medicines, for the record.)

Then Jennifer and I went to meet Steve at the car dealership. We were early (because, well, I set my alarm clock ahead a little bit - and then Jen set /her/ alarm clock ahead a little bit, too, but she used /my/ alarm clock as the standard, oops!), so Jen decided to take a little detour into the used car area, because she thought she saw some good deals. You see, we talked the car issue up a little bit last night, and she'd decided to get a new 2003 Hyundai Elantra GLS (if she liked the test drive) - it doesn't have the hatch, but it also has cloth seats and a lower price. So we were all set to go to Hyundai, but took a little detour. Jen saw a car that caught her eye, and I saw a few more, and she drove two cars.

She found a car! I'll let her tell you all about it, but it was /not/ what we'd planned on. It was a great car at a steal of a deal, and she seems to really like it. Even Steve likes it! So the car shopping thing (though it took forever and we had to endure sales pitches and the history of Ricart and blah blah blah) was a huge success, and the finance guy found her a great APR - whoo hoo! To celebrate, we let Jen pick the restaurant of her choice. First we had to stop at Best Buy to return her external CD-RW, because it wasn't working. (Just what she needed, another computer problem.)

She chose Bon Vie at Easton, and the food took forever to arrive. Steve stuffed himself on bread, and we all ate, and then decided to see Tomb Raider 2. Before the movie, Jen started to feel kind of sick from her meal, so that was a bummer. It became a bigger bummer later, because she was feeling gross throughout the movie. :( And the movie wasn't so great. I liked it, because, well, I don't like action movies OR Angelina Jolie, so I had really low expectations. But Steve and Jennifer were disappointed, and Jen said the effects weren't as good as the first one. (I fell asleep during the first one, so... no comparison.) We drove back home in the spiffy new car, and that was fun!

And then we got home, and the odd thing was that Grendel came to meet us at the stairs. Grendel is /never/ at the stairs - she's always hiding from the other cats. Where were the other cats? I started yelling, "Hello, cats!" like I always do. No cats. And then I heard this muffled meowing, and I ran upstairs.

The cats had somehow gotten shut into the back bedroom, which was totally sweltering. And they apparently spent the whole day (we were gone for about 11 hours) trying to claw their way out. The carpeting under the door is /totally/ destroyed. I don't know how we're going to fix it, or whether we're going to get away with it. (I can imagine the landlord charging us to recarpet the whole upstairs.) On top of that, I'm concerned that my cats were locked in there all day. My big fatty was in there with no potty and no water, and he's really supposed to have regular access to both because of his potential for urinary stones. I hope he's okay, and that they're not too traumatized. Ralph was having a good time trying to grab the balloons I got from the car dealership.

So that was a low end to a high day. Hopefully, we'll work something out with the carpet, and Daedalus will prove himself to be fine. Hopefully Jennifer continues to like her car, and ceases feeling ill. Hopefully she gets this CD-RW thing going so she can get back to working on her thesis. Hope hope hope.

I'm /really/ happy about the way things came together on the car thing. In a lot of ways, as I was telling Jennifer, I'm kind of glad she ended up not even getting any kind of Hyundai, and instead got a totally different car. That way, she found a car she liked, and it wasn't any kind of "compromise" car - it ended up being better for her than the car she originally wanted /and/ ended up being a better car than the car she was looking into in consideration of me. This way the car has /no/ drama attached, and I like that!

Although I'm very touched and very flattered that she considered me at all, because she certainly didn't have to. I'm very lucky and very thankful.
