The end of the trip.
Sep. 1st, 2003 02:03 pmThere's so much I could write, but I don't know where to start or where to end. Heck, I don't even know what to put in the middle. Sometime soon, I'll download at least one of the pictures of the girls I went to high school with, so we can play "one of these kids is not like the others." Gah, they're all fashion models!
I had beaucoup fun in Boston. I got off the train and walked to
lorac's work to meet up with her, and from there we T'd to her new place. (It's really nice!) Walking from South Station toward Downtown Crossing was filled with pleasant nostalgia. Boston always feels like home to me, like I have an internal GPS. It's nice being somewhere and knowing where everything is. If only it had California weather...
At Carrie and William's, my primary activity was sleep. Before sleep, though, we went to a BC bar in Cleveland Circle to play NTN trivia. It was Dory's and my inaugural trivia experience. I was thoroughly amused, partly because I kept winning, and partly because Dory and I were goofing with the "chat" function of the trivia machines. (Her: R U in a lab?) The next day, I met up with a bunch of folks for brunch at Mr. Crepe (mmm) -
prunesnprisms, her Matty Jean,
scirocco,
siercia, their Widget, Dory,
pantsie, and of course
lorac and her William Jean. It was wonderful to see everyone whom I miss so strongly, but it was also kind of lonely to be there without my Jennifer. I don't know how Dory does it, hanging out with them all when they are all coupled up! I know that Jen would have loved to see everyone, and to explore more of Boston as a potential living area, so I really wished she was there. I wrapped up Boston with a quick Somerville home tour - I got to see Dory's new place, and Shani and Matt's new place. Everyone has such great apartments!
Carrie and The W drove me back to the Notorious PVD (well, Woonsocket, really) so I had time to get ready for dinner. My father and I took my grandparents to dinner, which was nice. We went to one of the restaurants owned by Joe Gaspar, one of a zillion Portuguese people in RI that I'm not sure if I'm related to, or if I'm just told that. Either way, he kissed me. Ick! After dinner, I went out with Laurie, Donna, and Joslyn again, though this time Danielle came along (she couldn't make Thursday) and brought her boyfriend, Gary. We ended up closing out the restaurant that Laurie tends bar at part time, and when Laurie dropped me off, we had a few minutes to talk. Not enough minutes. I worry that she's really struggling, both with who she is and also who she's in a relationship with. I wish I lived closer, and that we could go out sometime and just talk. Boo. :(
Either way, I made my connection no problem yesterday, but we sat on the runway for an extra hour in Cleveland. What is it with me and Columbus flights? Ugh! I was so antsy to get home, but I got to read a lot more of Female Masculinity. Thanks for the heads-up,
heathergirlie - it's a very thought-provoking read and I've spent a lot of time thinking about everything and me. I do so love to think about myself.
So yeah. It's good to be back with my girl. And The Secret Life of Dentists is really weird. So is The Shipping News. So you know.
