No presents. :(
Oct. 14th, 2003 11:52 pmI think my postal carrier is not leaving packages from our amazon.com wishlists, and is instead sending them back to amazon.com when no one is answering the door. This irks me, because amazon.com packages do not require a signature.
At the same time, I can see their reservation about leaving packages on the steps, but isn't that MY problem, and not the postal carrier's? Argh! If they sent
cappucinogrrl's back, are they going to send everyone else's back, too?
*sigh*

Date: 2003-10-14 09:23 pm (UTC)I know this because the carrier we had in Dorchester didn't like to leave packages, which required a trip to the scary post office near our house.

Date: 2003-10-14 09:25 pm (UTC)Do you live in an apt complex? Sometimes here the UPS people just take packages to the office, a don't leave a note. Which they shouldn't do, but it happens.

Date: 2003-10-14 09:32 pm (UTC)did you specify that the the stuff come via postal service? I didn't realize amazon used them anymore.
AND- as stated about UPS or FedEx- USPS has to "contact" you 3 times before they take any action about sending your package back to the sender. They even keep packages for a while (10 days?) before sending them back. They should have left you a postcard type of a thing in you mailbox/slot saying you had a package.

Date: 2003-10-15 10:58 am (UTC)Some chocolate someone sent me got put onto my front doorstep in the HOT August sun. And it sat there for days because it blew into the bushes and wasn't visible from the road.
Someone sent me an animation cel from an anime cartoon that involved a snake. It sat in the RAIN for a week because, once again, the USPS left it sitting by my front door, and it blew into the bushes.
Count your lucky stars. At least they make an effort to protect your mail. Mine gets treated like the newspaper.

Date: 2003-10-16 07:20 pm (UTC)Oh, so I called the post office for my zip code, and they said I don't have any packages. Well, they said that this morning. This afternoon I got a slip for a package from amazon. So we'll see if it's yours. If not, I guess you'll have to check with Amazon to see where it was shipped.
Argh! Sorry about this.
