So I could go to this discussion about civil marriage tonight, provided I get home from my home visit in time. (The home visit's at 5-5:15pm, is expected to last an hour, and is 25 minutes away.) This is what we have planned to do for the past week.

But since we didn't have any laundry detergent until last night, I haven't been able to do laundry in a while. Which means I have one pair of underwear left, and no bras. And I wouldn't be able to do laundry until (at least) Thursday, because I volunteer on Wednesdays.

I am so frustrated. I feel like I have to cancel out on important plans to do laundry. And then that infuriates me because I know if we skip the thing, Jen will go volunteer and then I will be home alone with all the laundry, which really doesn't seem like fun at all. So my options are:

a) go to event with my smoochie, and run out of clean underwear
b) go to event with my smoochie, and stay up until all hours doing laundry while smoochie sleeps
c) skip event, spend all night home alone doing laundry while smoochie volunteers

Personally, I'd have no problems deciding if one of the options was d) skip event, spend all night at home doing laundry while smoochie stays home with me, and somewhere in there we make a delicious dinner instead of foregoing food for event.

I'm going to be late for work.

Will you go to hell in a handbasket if you create a D option? Because it sounds like you have too much on your plate, sister.

sometimes, you have to lose to win.

I like Mermil's option D. I offer, however, option E. Swing by a store and buy a few more pairs of undies. You can never have too many pair.

Wash 1-2 pairs of undies and 1-2 bras in the sink with woolite. It's not the best but it's quick and solves the problem. So go to the event, then do a wee bit of handwashing at home.

I vote for A. (especially considering that Mass. just ruled that it's unconstitutional to ban marriage rights to same sex couples. it's a start. whoo hoo!) In terms of choice A, I say either buy a few pairs of cheap undies, or it can never hurt to go commando for a couple of days. It's kinda fun every once in a while.

Do an emergency load. White only, or stuff that won't bleed color, set it wash as you leave, throw it in the dryer immediately when you get home. Those newfangled washer and dryers, it's like they clean the clothes themselves!

hahahahaha yeah I was going to say something like that.
Do a load of laundry every day or every other day. Washer before you leave for work, dryer when you come home from work. We have GOBS of laundry every week and it works a lot better doing just one load a day rather than 6 in one day.

I usually do laundry several times per week. However, that was hard to do with no laundry detergent! (Which Jen just picked up last night when I was at chorus, so there wasn't much I could do about that.)

If it were me, I would spend the time with Jen/significant other. Life is much to short to be stressing out about little things like clothing. Enjoy each other. Help each other get through the monotony of daily life. Clothing, food, these are things that should enhance an experience, not create one. So, if after your day you can close your eyes and smile to yourself, not because you survived another day, but rather because you took the chaos that life threw you, and created your own happiness. I would suffer a lifetime of dirty underwear before I would accept a day without happiness or love, even if it is only my own. I know that you are well aware of this, sometimes it is nice to remind ourselves though.

I actually did sort of come up with a D.

I went to training until 4, raced home, put a load of laundry in the wash and folded the stuff in the dryer, and then went to a 5pm home visit.

Then I raced back, put the washer clothes in the dryer, put a second load in the washer, wolfed down some mac and cheese, and headed to the discussion with smoochie. Then we went to Peas and Sarah's for Queer Eye. Then we came back and folded the dryer clothes, and put the last load in the dryer.

Today, I took those clothes out when I got home from training. La la la.

Yeah, except that wasn't a REAL option. I just wish it was.

Perhaps I should invest in more. You're right.

I would enjoy her more if she were wearing clean underwear, I think.

Well, no. I enjoy her just fine without underwear. But I also enjoy her having a job, and having underwear to wear to that job. :)

I do too, but I guess it's for different things.

For me, I can't buy the first thing on a rack or shelf. HAVE HAVE HAVE to reach behind and go for that item. I have not purchased the cereal I wanted, simply because there was only one box left.

I'm a sick, sick boy.

Oh, wow. How weird. (Isn't it funny that MY neuroses are "normal" but yours are "weird"? Ha ha!)

You should see how I align my shirts in my closet. Oh, it is a sight.
