There are two things (only two?) that are guaranteed to give me anxiety:
  • making travel arrangements

  • having credit card balances

I just finished doing both, and now I'm about to have a hissy fit. ARGH! My heart is all aflutter!

I have no idea why I am so neurotic about credit card balances. I mean, it's the American Way to have credit card balances, right? But with Thanksgiving and my grandparents' 60th anniversary and my trip to NYC and Christmas all coming up, there's no way I will pay off the balance any time soon. Balances, I should say, because I opted to use the 'emergency' credit card for two trip-related purchases, in an effort to alleviate anxiety by having two smaller balances instead of one large one. Yes, I am insane.

No, you are not insane (unless of course, I'm insane too). I am freaked out by credit cards. I carry enough credit in my wallet to buy a couple of cars and put a down payment on a house...but I never use the things. I never carry a balance. I've never done anything other than pay them off in full (on the rare occasion that I do use them). Yet, I still freak out about things like my credit rating...and find myself printing off online credit reports to make sure that everything is "ok".

I agree with you that using credit cards has sort of become the "American way". However, for some odd reason, I think I'd almost feel dirty if I bought all kinds of nice things...and knew that I only had them because of a piece of plastic.

OK, yeah, I'm insane. You're nuts too! ;-P~

See, I'm not freaked out by credit cards. When I was unemployed, I got in the habit of keeping a little balance, and I'm actually okay with that. It's just when I see the balance creeping up and up and can't make the large payments I'm used to - that gives me anxiety. I know I'll never have "runaway credit," because I'm too careful, but I also know I don't usually run around buying trips to Disney for pretty girls. :)

So I guess it's all worth it. But I'm glad I'm not the only nut.

Yeah, I'm fanatic about money management. Must be the OCD in me. I swear, I'm at least several fries short a Happy Meal in the "fret about things" department.

Gosh, what choices!! I know that [livejournal.com profile] rizzo41 has commandered most of my time in NYC (I'll be there from the afternoon of 12/12 to the afternoon of 12/14). I'm going to camp out in some centralized location on 12/13 sometime to meet people, but I would /LOVE/ to go eat with you somewhere. (Just not on the 12th, someone rescheduled a party for me.)

I vote sushi. SUSHI. SOOO SHEE. Oh wow, that would be so awesome.
