Gah. It is so farking difficult to conceive of leaving Columbus when I think that for a mere pittance (in my New England home-buying experience, of course), I could have the cutest little house in the universe.

Or what about this one? Or this one?

Oy.

Clearly, you just have to convince more of your friends to move out that way.

Housing prices like that make me weep.

Dude, you should like...move here......now....yes please. I would stay here if my all my friends lived here:)

I like the second one. You should buy it and I can live in your basement!

The funny thing is people in my hometown are always saying how expensive Columbus is, how they could never pay that much for a house (or rent too), why do people live there.

Don't get the house built in 1880. Don't even be tempted. Charm is costly!! We've owned a house built in 1880, and it was lovingly known as the Money Pit.

The others are very cute.

Do you have skiing there? Because if you don't, the odds of getting Wiley to agree to a move are slim to none.

=(

We have skiing here, yes. Not in Columbus directly, but within acceptable driving distances.

Um, there are houses that price and cheaper in western Mass. Why do you think we're out here and not in Boston?

Seems like normal prices to me. :) Not that we're buying anytime soon since we don't know if we're really going to live here after j's done with school or not.

Dude, Where's My House?

I like the second one, the two story grey with white windows. Houses are a screaming deal out there, B. To get something like that out here, you'd be paying almost twice that. Of course, the homes are a little more historic in places...

Why yes, there is skiing indeed. [livejournal.com profile] thinksnow is the person to ask about snow related funness here!

And you would have us. And life would be cheaper and simpler and....and...cheaper...and you would have US!;)

Skiing

Yes! From what I've been told, there is skiing. I don't know how good it is, but we're not /that/ far from mountains in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee... and I'm pretty sure there's at least some little ski places within driving distance from here.

Columbus would be AWESOME if I could transport all of you guys! :)

Yeah, I have a friend that lives in fairly rural Missouri and she says the same thing. It cracks me up!

Thanks for the tip!

We're not really buying .any. house... we don't even know where we want to live. But it's fun to look around, thanks to the wonders of the internet. :)

Not from a Columbus standpoint. You can get a house in a decent area for $80,000 around here. But where I grew up, you can't get a decent house for less than $250,000.

I was also looking at houses in Albuquerque, just for shits and giggles. They had decent prices, too. :)

Well, I'm hoping we don't have to leave. J actually would love to teach somewhere like Hampshire or Mt Holyoke. But that's at least 1.5 years away until he's job-hunting. The one place I told him I'd move to without question is Hawai'i. :)
