Quandary

I have wanted to go to the March For Women on April 25th ever since I heard about it. Jennifer and I were going to drive to DC and go to the March and get a neat hotel in DC and party like rock stars. And we were going to take the 26th off from work.

But now we have to save money like mad to move, so there goes the schwank hotel. And we have to go to a wedding in Boston the following weekend, and to save money, we're now thinking about driving. So the questions are: a) would we have a cheap really cheap place to stay, and b) can we handle two long drives two weekends in a row?

I've been thinking about going myself, but I'd be staying with a friend (and likely for a week). It would be cool to have someone to march with!!

really, if you're smart about it (go with a motel 6 or something similar) then it won't dent your savings too badly. it's such a good cause, jude.. if i could go I would. since i can't, i have to encourage everyone else to go.

Ooooh, car pool. Does anyone have a big enough car? I know we'd be much more able to go if we weren't doing all the driving.

Mum lives in Arlington now, just south of the river and pretty close to Crystal City. If she's in town that weekend, she'd probably be happy to see you.

When jadefu and I were in DC on vacation last summer, we stayed at the Travelodge in "Old City" Alexandria. It was decent, not terribly expensive, and easy walking distance from the Braddock Rd Metro stop (fun fact: one of the large office buildings next to the station contains the national headquarters of PBS). Also the Wendy's 2 blocks away serves breakfast, which is creepy (and not very good).

April 25 is also the birthday of my flatmate, the only ex-girlfriend I've kept in touch with, and jadefu's godmother. Yes, those are three different people.

Yes, Carrie and I had dinner with you and your mum that one time we drove back together from an NC party. Shoot, that was a long time ago.

I'd feel so weird at your mum's house, even though I remember her as an exceptionally nice (and tall) lady.

We're still talking about it. I'm pretty sure we're going, but we're working out the logistics of travel and lodging. I'm /really/ trying to make it happen.
