Date: 2004-03-16 01:18 am (UTC)(I'm really weird about adding people back, so you know in advance. I usually take a while before adding back, after I've snooped around for a while. But I don't really lock anything unless it's secretly trashing something/someone at work.)

Date: 2004-03-16 01:28 am (UTC)I don't actually know you, but if you're a friend of Smurfy here, you're okay by me. Also, I'm currently eyebrow-deep in a PhD program myself (in fact, I'm supposed to be writing a term paper right now, so I'm curious about what field you picked and what school and all the little gory details. I'm doing Information Science at Drexel U, before you ask back.
A friend of mine who already has hers noted as I started: "You'll be really glad you did it. And really really really glad when it's over." So far, I agree.

Date: 2004-03-16 01:48 am (UTC)In fact, they will.
But you usually have to be famous for doing other stuff first, and/or give a lot of money to the school. Then they'll invite you to speak at a graduation ceremony, and invent some bogus honorary title like Doctor of Humane Letters. It's not really a PhD, but it takes a lot less schoolwork.
After that, you can say stuff like "Trust me, I'm a doctor." Bill Nye did within, like, 5 minutes of his (honorary) doctorate from RPI. I saw it; I was there.

Date: 2004-03-16 04:01 pm (UTC)I usually add people because I think we share common interest and/or they can be thought provoking. I think we share some things and what I've read so far I've enjoyed, so I look forward having you added on my daily read.
I can't say my journal is extremely thought provoking or even intelligent at times. I mostly write about my relationships with my wife, family, & friends. I vent about work including coworkers and clients. I'm sure there is other stuff but those are the main topics. I update sporadically and I'm not that big on posting online test--unless I find them amusing. So take your time and poke around.

Date: 2004-03-18 03:42 am (UTC)I like reading about other people's relationships. It helps me with mine - gives me some perspective.
