This weather is a big fat bummer. Don't get me wrong, I'm /psyched/ that there is less snow than they predicted, and I'm psyched that it's fairly warm (and therefore will melt quickly, I hope), but this snowstorm in the middle of my self-proclaimed springtime is the pits.

Yesterday it was 53 degrees and sunny, and I opened the windows for a short time when I was home resting. Today everything is covered in white nastiness again, and I almost feel like it erases all of the springy goodness we've had so far. Almost. I'm holding onto the memory of that sunshine as hard as I can.

This sort of weather bastardization is not at all uncommon where I grew up, which leads me to question: Why am I moving back again? *grin* At least it (*knock on wood*) won't be a repetition of the Memorial Day snowstorm I remember from my first foray into northern Maine. I will never, under any circumstances, live in Maine again. And I will only visit in late spring, summer, and early fall. I have spoken.

And now I shall go on a home visit. Wheeeee!

It always, always always hails in April in London. When my inlaws were here for 6 weeks, I warned them of this. But we were gone for 20 days in April, so they thought we were safe. But then just as we drove back into London on May 2 -- pouring down hail. MIL said "But you said it was April!" and I had to shrug and say it must have been waiting for us to get back!!

I'm used to these sorts of late storms, and remember them happening frequently as a child. It almost always snowed on the first day of spring, almost as an "eff you" to the world. I also remember hating those days, because after enduring all of winter and finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, it's like you get smacked back down.

I don't know if hail would bother me so much. When I was living in the mountains in New Mexico, it would hail about once a week during a crazy thunderstorm. Then again, it's not like it accumulated. I don't think I'd like accumulating hail on May 2!

Yo, yo, yo....mike's back in the houseeeeeee

Sorry I have been gone for so long, but I have been dating someone, and you know how demanding woman are. Anyway, it is tanning weather here in the deep south. It was in the 70's today, and the sun was shining, and I really wanted to take off my shirt to start on my tan. Sorry about the snow storm, I aimed it at illinois, but it must of turned and missed. And my memories of maine are good. The weather was pretty warm, and it did not snow at all. Plus two blocks from steven king was kind of cool.
ps. do you know what april 11th is? No, besides easter!

When I was in HS in Illinois, prom was always in May. Every single night of prom for either high school it either hailed or snowed. Mine was no exception (hail).

April 11th is your birthday. It is also the day you are coming to visit me, right? RIGHT??!?! :)

Are you really dating someone? You will have to tell me all about her. You know, when you come visit on the 11th. I'll be counting the days.

I am envious of your weather. Now if it wasn't scary and southern and conservative, I just might consider it. I always did love sticky humidity and alligators! ;)
