I am a Pride Pooper.

We got a good spot for parade-watching at Arlington/Boylston and, well, watched the parade. I think that was the perfect spot for us, close enough to the end to provide easy access to the Common, but far enough away so that it wasn't one big jam-up. And there was shade. The parade was fun - a lot of churches, a lot of politicians - but this was the first time in a long time that I watched a parade instead of marched in one (I've marched with KYC a lot). It was different than the parades I remember in Columbus - the C-bus Pride parades seem more carnival-like with a lot more floats and cars/trucks with music, a lot more costumes, heavier on the flambouyant. I guess Columbus Pride is a giant party for most of the eastern Midwest, so maybe there's more pressure for more of a show.

We met up with saltyponyAmy part-way through the parade and she bummed around with us all afternoon. We sneaked away for some fast food at The Corner and then came back to collect free things. I realized that the new-and-improved mature Amy reminds me a whole lot of laughingsalMissy Goodtimes. Interesting.

We crapped out around 4:30 and came home. There are lots of Pride things going on tonight and tomorrow but I doubt we will hit any of them. We're going to Providence Pride next weekend with Laurie and Donna (people without LJs? travesty!) and they will undoubtedly drag us to the clubs afterward, so I didn't want to get too Prided Out.

Will someone come over and do the rest of our unpacking? I have lost all motivation.

p.s. Nothing warms my heart quite like joyous queer youth enjoying their first Pride parades.

!!!

I was right when I told my big gay hairdresser you were probably a street away today and might beat me up.

The deal was that he asked if I wanted him to shave my head, and I said, welllll, I pomised a long time ago that if I were ever going to shave my head, I'd let Jude do it. And then thought out loud, "Come to think of it, she's just moved here and is probably a couple streets away at Pride (where he had been earlier in the afternoon). She might have to beat us up."

So did he shave your head?

Because, you know, I would LOVE to do it, of course, but I wouldn't beat anyone up. I'm a pacifist, after all! (Okay, maybe I would beat you both up a little bit...)

I so totally bless this.

For reals. Spread the love, combat the hate. That's the way I always wanted it.

Love,

God

RI Pride is next weekend - I found out yesterday afternoon. Now I need to talk with The Boss to see if we can swing a trip to Western Mass the weekend after for your par-tay!

(We may only be able to come to part of it rather than sleep over, because there's still so much to do.)

that's fine

it would be super to have you here. even if you only came out for sat evening, that would be fine. the main point of the sleepover is in case out of towners don't wanna come out just for an evening.

i'm so psyched that my party may mean i get to meet a few people i haven't met before.

i'd love to work out some detail with you, i'm going to email you my phone number. if you can give me a call sometime today, that would be super (preferably before 7). thanks so much!

If you weren't the squealing idiot baby dykes who pushed their way in front of us at the very last minute, thereby wasting our hard work in selecting a good (not too sunny, not too shady, etc.) photo spot, then nope, I didn't notice you.

Because really, all I got to see were the backs of 6 squealing baby dykes (who were probably from Connecticut or Rhode Island, judging by accents) jumping up and down in their quests for beads.

How /annoying/. I am /certain/ you weren't one of them, because they didn't look the remotest bit mod. Besides, you would have been way cooler than that.

This reminds me that I must begin stalking you now. =P

I will give you a call in a little bit. I'm running around like an idiot trying to get things done around the house! So far we've pretty much successfully unpacked everything that needs to be unpacked, have stored everything else in our storage closet, I've cleaned the bathroom, cleaned the cat box, ran the dishwaher, started the laundry, and put some stuff away. PHEW! I'm tired!

I have a friend who lives somewhere in western mass also, and I'd like to coordinate seeing her if we go out that way, too. So when Jen gets out of the tub (she's been busy, too!) I will chat with her about everything.

oh, i forgot to tell you. we were squealing like idiots and probably dry humping on the street.
jk. we're snots. we do not show any emotion at all.

and people from connecticut don't have accents. we sound like the news. THE NEWS!

i haven't had a stalker in like a year. i'm so excited. but i don't really do much, so i'm hard to stalk. i work and ride the 39 and sometimes go to the Stop and Shop in Brigham Circle. soon, i will be playing football twice a week, which will help my stalkability. you wanna join my team? are you tall? fast? we need those two things. i'm neither. but i KICK ASS on the line against girls way bigger than me. we need a new center too though. i can't snap the ball cuz my glasses fall off my face when i set up. and i can't see a damn thing without them. so you wanna play or what? it's fun, it hurts.

I KNEW IT! I SAW YOU DRY HUMPING!!

I am neither tall nor fast. In fact, I am 5'4" and quite wimpy, as I am muy out of shape-o. So I doubt I would be any sort of help to your football team, unless I become the waterboy or team photographer. (Glasses would be quite the problem for me, too.) Then again, the enhanced stalkability is certainly appealing.

I am also ashamed to say that I know very little about football in terms of rules. I was a soccer/baseball/softball/volleyball/crew girl in my heyday.

I don't ever go anywhere near the 39 bus or Brigham Circle. Perhaps I will have to start patroling those areas with my car. ;)
