Lazy Wednesday, 62 degrees and overcast.
Jul. 14th, 2004 05:05 pmYesterday we engaged in a little public education. By this I mean that we brought queerness to one of the last remaining totally straight bastions of society: a free screening of A Cinderella Story starring Hilary Duff. The theatre was overwhelmingly packed with 11-16 year old girls smattered with occasional chaperones. Top education prize of the night goes to the teenaged girl sitting next to me, who graciously scooped her chin up off the floor mere moments after Jen and I sat down and held hands.
The movie was cute overall, I'd say. Definitely worth the price of admission (free) and the time spent (about an hour and a half). I win bonus points for knowing Hilary's middle name (Ann) and the name of her sister (Haylie), although I didn't win any of the prizes. Aah well, no Hilary Duff gift-paks for me! Snap!
I called the agency where I got the job offer and formally accepted the job today. I start Monday with paperwork and orientation. Then I start actually training/working on Tuesday. What the heck am I going to do? I haven't worked in July since 2000 (I was an office temp doing medical transcription at an agency where my friend Scott was my evil IT nemesis). I suppose I will get over it. Of course, this means I need to start buying appropriate lunch-packing food.
So that's about it for me - hanging out at home, crossing my fingers that the DREAM JOB calls me someday and wants to interview me. Oh, and I don't usually say things ahead of time for fear of jinxing, but I'm also applying to be on the Board of Directors of a queer youth organization. THAT would be a great little professional builder. :)
