Castle Island staff meeting
Aug. 25th, 2004 06:15 pmToday, we spent staff meeting at Castle Island, as a celebration for Coworker Susan's last week. It is so beautiful there, both at Castle Island and the drive all the way down Day Boulevard past the miles and miles of coast. I noticed that there is a wide sidewalk, so I think I will have to bring my rollerblades there sometime before it gets too chilly and take a little ride along the water.
I wish we could have staff meeting on the beach every week. Everyone was in such a good mood, snacking and enjoying good conversation while the seagulls circled and the wind blew everyone's hair. The salty air was invigorating and smiles were tangible. It was definitely a stimulant.
While things may be complicated and challenging right now, I don't know that I /could/ move back to Columbus even with all of the safety and cheapness. I just can't give up that ocean, not for anything. It is inside of me as well as all around. Cold New England salt water courses through my veins and catches under my fingernails. She is my mother and she has called me home.

Coworkers have had fun trying to guess my age this week for some reason. Yesterday at an assessment, Coworker Kristine thought I was 24. Today, Coworker Veronica guessed 35. Is it my looks? My divorce? Who knows.
