Jen and I got up early to go vote. We left at 7:45am and got to the polling place in 5 minutes, and didn't really wait. I think we maybe waited for five minutes. Not too shabby. I was surprised how many white people there were at my polling place. Because I've never seen more than one white person at a time in that part of my neighborhood. Interesting.

So we voted, on paper. That was weird for me, because in Ohio we had those electric machine thingers. So I had to fill in bubbles and had Scan-Tron flashbacks. And I am paranoid that maybe my votes won't register because I went outside the lines a little. Filling in bubbles with fraying magic markers is no good when you have OCD.

Last night, I was looking for information on two candidates on one of my local races. Jack Hart was running against Susan Long. I know that Jack Hart (the incumbent) is in favor of the marriage amendment, but I searched and searched and couldn't find anything about Susan Long. When we got to our polling place, Jen and I were walking to the door and were accosted by people from the NGLTF who were checking our info. And then this older woman hands me a slip of paper and says, "Vote for Susan Long. She supports traditional marriage." I handed the woman her slip of paper back and said, "Thank you for your advice. You've convinced me to stay away from her." So then I had no one to vote for in that section. Poop.

On the way out, a /different/ NGLTF campaign person came up to Jen and me. I guess we "look the type" or something. Hee.

p.s. Regardless of the election, I want to go and get married tomorrow, JUST BECAUSE I CAN. Eff you, states with stupid propositions about amendments and DOMAs. I hate you.

I went from computer to paper, too!

What's weird is that I had this paper where I had to connect the point and the tail of the arrow with a line.

2 years ago, in a different county, I had the computer thingie. I liked the computer thingie better.

I liked the computer thingie better. I guess the paper ones are less likely to be tampered with or whatever, but I liked pushing the electronic buttons.

I remember those arrow ones from the last election. I think they had them in Florida. I don't remember. But yeah, that's kind of weird.

I filled in bubbles. I don't like bubbles. I want to push buttons.

I'm not optimistic about Issue 1 being put to rest in Ohio. But goddamn, do I want that motherfucker burried.

I'm convinced that most people in support of Issue 1 don't really have a very good understanding of what it will actually mean.

I also had to connect parts of an arrow. Very different, I am used to the bubbles. I also found it odd that there were no issues to vote on. This is the first time I have not been able to vote for things like school funding at the same time. You'd think that they would throw it on...

Personally I have met a number of people who all say something like "Well I think they should do what they want but my (insert type of leader of church here) said that we should vote for it, so I am".

Makes me sick.

Our pro-marriage state legislature candidate didn't make it past the primaries. Our choice was DOMA-Democrat or DOMA-Republican.

I should have written in R'nice.

I think you're absolutely right. Unfortunately, now we get to see exactly what Issue One means for Ohio.
