I suck at journals.

That said, I'm going to put out an effort. I'm thoroughly tickled by this livejournal thing and think it might be kind of fun. So here goes. Of course, since this is the first one, that means it gets days and days of garbage. Thrilling!

I started a new job the other week. It's not a job, technically, it's an internship. I'm in the last leg of a two year MSW program. Next spring I'll be an honest to goodness licensed social worker (or something). For the next year, until I graduate, I'll be working at an outpatient psychotherapy center for children 18 and under. I'm actually totally excited about it, other than being entirely unsure of myself and my ability to do this work. My friend Mark tells me to stop worrying. I believe his words were, 'You were born to do this.' I sure hope he's right!

In other news, the spouse and I are in the process of buying a second car (thank goodness!). Now, I hate cars as much as the next tree-hugger, but Columbus is too ridiculously spread out to rely on its crappy public transportation system, and getting around is becoming more of a problem now that my job is a good 30 miles away. It's a 1997 Saturn SL1 and it's green and adorable, and I'm desperately trying to make him name it 'Toulouse-Lautrec'. We shall see.

So tomorrow we purchase the car, and run all sorts of other annoying errands, like returning the mystery checks to the bank. Our bank, which thoroughly sucks, has decided to order us some totally ugly checks, starting at 101. We've had this account for a year now. I'm guessing someone put the order through because we moved. They did this without asking. They, of course, deny this. ('We don't order checks without a reorder form.' 'Aaron must have ordered them.' 'You must have asked for them.') They need to take their ugly 101 checks back and return the money they deducted from my checking account. Fascists. Tomorrow is also Paul Simon day, and I'm excited about that. I just love him to pieces. Bank, post office, car, Paul. There are other things I'm forgetting in there, I just know it.

I have a really important phone call to make about my independent study project. You'd think that since it was so important, I wouldn't have been systematically forgetting it for the past three weeks. You'd think. Feh.

Well, it's time for bed. We'll see how long I keep this journal thinger up. Cross your fingers!
