Argh! Amazon Annoyance!
Nov. 30th, 2004 11:19 pmIn the cosmic world of annoyances, I managed to order two gifts online from an amazon.com independent store. Amazon charged my credit card and sent my money and my order to the store. I then received an e-mail from that store saying that the item was a "future release" and they would send me e-mail when the item was ready for shipping. This fact was entirely NOT mentioned on the item's page. (In fact, the "availability" section said: This item normally ships in 1-2 business days.) So I e-mailed the store to both reprimand them on their misleading page and to inquire as to when I should expect my gifts. AND THEY WROTE BACK SAYING THEY HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING! What the heck is THAT? I cancelled the order and now I'm back to square one for my father and grandfather. Grrrr.
Also, Mary Stuart Masterson is no B.D. Wong. Puh-leeze.
My final annoyance is about that ridiculous homophobic woman on "The Real Gilligan's Island" (and yes, I know I bring it on myself when I watch things like that). I hate Hate HATE that whole train of thought that talks bullcrap about how "it's okay to be queer as long as you don't flaunt it in public." That's always followed by "I don't go around talking about how straight I am." Gosh that pisses me off. I mean, really. First of all, just about everyone is automatically assumed to be straight until they tell someone otherwise, so "advertising" is hardly necessary. And second, that stupid millionaire lady made this big stink about how everything with "the gay professor" is about sex and why do all the gays have to talk about sex and "what positions they use"? WTF? I mean, the guy said something like, "My partner and I have been together for six years and we recently got married and we have a dog." WHERE'S THE SEX, PEOPLE?
