Oh no! I am so shocked to hear about Library Mom! I think that if you do a proper intervention, I shall have to come back out to Ohio and assist. Because, really, Olivia even calls Alex "Sweetie" in Loss, so how can she NOT see the HoYay?!?! (In other news, I don't think my brother saw the HoYay, either. What is UP with people? That's messed up.)
And I'm sure you're right that he's being pulled in many directions and probably doesn't want to go to 50 different birthday dinners. And I suppose I can always try again and offer to take him out to dinner on some other random day and see if he declines. And /then/ I can start taking it personally. ;)
