I was thinking today.
Ten minutes left in class,
And out the window
Behind the building
Were thoughts of you.
I used to think that
The black dot in my white field
Was a stain
But your presence in my life,
Your complementarity,
And your darker enlightenment
Are a beacon.
So behind the wall
And around the corner
In the shadow from the sun behind the buildings,
I stopped scrubbing.
