I've decided that instead of griping about not having a baby yet, I'm going to read lots and lots of good books on parenting and babies. (Hopefully the library has them all!)

So... recommend some good momazon books for me! Thanks!

Breeder: Real-Life Stories from the New Generation of Mothers

boston public library had them all in 2003 when i read them. (copley branch). they can transfer them to the closet branch to you.

oh, if they have "You Look Too Young to Be a Mom: Teen Mothers Speak Out on Love, Learning, and Success" get that too. you might find it interesting. several of my friends have essays in it.

PS: I still have your sleeping bag but i'm completely homebound so i can't leave thehouse to bring it to you. :(

Thanks for the suggestions! Man, I will be reading for a loooooooong time!

It's no big deal about the sleeping bag. I know you were in the hospital for a while and now are laid up, so I have been trying to think of days when I could go get it and see you... and then I remember that almost all of my free time is spent either writing thank you notes for funeral gifts or cleaning out my dad's old house.

Blah! I hope you're starting to feel better!!

those books are way better than "what to expect..." and all the typical books. oh... there's "your pregnancy week by week." but thats cool when you are pregnant to look at. its cool in general really but it means more when you look at it in the stage you are in then 3 years in advance. i'll have a kid when i'm 27. i already have a turkey baster. a Michael Graves turkey baster. gotta have a designer babydaddy. ;)

hey... the cool parenting websites are www.hipmama.com and www.mamarevolution.com
mama revolution has queer parents message boards. i know most of the mamas there. they are lotsa LJers. :)

i'm just keeping my couch flat. i think my couch is sick of me. :(

i'm not contagious or anything, but if you are sick it's not a good idea for you to come here cuz i'll get sick easily at this point since my immune system is weak. :(

Callie's Tally - I can't remember the author.

Both journal/memoir types of baby's first year. I own them both, so you can borrow them if you want.

I fucking hated what to expect. but I think if I were pregnant again I'd have it on hand just for fun. It does have a lot of info, easily found. But it is sort of silly, telling ppl to measure their thighs to make sure they're not getting too fat, and keeping up to the rigid this-is-what-happens-this-month format. I found that reading a few months ahead was helpful. But do not read the "when things go wrong" section (like 1/4 the book from what I remember.) And don't expect it to talk at all about home births or any of that crunchy shit. This is for women who plan their c sections around their nail appointments. But still, it has it's plusses.

I never read any. Except bipolar ones.

Want to come with me to CA to visit Lara?

I wish I could. But our savings account is significantly lighter after this month of crap, and we're going to Florida to visit Jen's parents in August (so I can't take more vacation).

But thank you for thinking of me.

I definitely want to come see you soon. And don't worry, I won't come if I'm sick! :)

Things are just really out-of-control busy for me right now, which totally stinks. The only time I'm free is when I'm sleeping!!

I hope you feel better soon!

Yeah, I've read the What To Expect books (I thought of it as job training, but who was I kidding, my families don't read books) and I didn't like them at all - they're just not in sync with what I want to do.

I need to read TCoYF sometime soon, although I'm still crossing my fingers and waiting to see if I even end up with some sort of regular cycle. It would be nice if I even HAD some fertility to take charge of. We'll see.

You da best.
