Oh! A couple of days ago I received my Permission To Test letter from the Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure, Social Worker Board. So now I can take the test, pass the test, and get my LICSW.

[livejournal.com profile] vorpalbla, [livejournal.com profile] kyoki_tenchi, what should I study? And how much? How hard .is. this thing, anyway?

The test is challenging because it felt to me to be very 'subjective'. Subjective in the sense that the questions are for the 'best' answer, or the 'first' answer... which, technically means, all of them could be right.

I was very fortunate in that my agency had purchased some humungous study guide set for us to share and use over and over for everyone who was testing. I don't think such a thing is OMGMUSTHAVE!!11 in order to pass, though.

For me, I studied pretty hard... I was quite paranoid of failing, though. I would say I dedicated about 6 weeks to it (4 weeks on and off a couple of hours a day and two weeks pretty hard core).

If I can help, let me know. :)

I agree. I find those "best" or "first" questions incredibly subjective. And I hate them.

Are there mostly clinical questions? Supervision questions? DSM questions? I know there is a breakdown but those are not always terribly accurate. I checked the library to see if there were any study guides I could take out but so far I haven't found any. (I didn't see any at Border's, either.)

I am also paranoid of failing. When I took the Master's test I re-read all of my noted from my MSW program, but I feel like that's not going to cut it for the LICSW, you know? It should be something /more/.
